My son suddenly dies from not being insured unless I finagle my way into another job! It's fucking rough dude.

I intended it as a honest question, not as some counterpunch.TheReal_ND wrote:My son suddenly dies from not being insured unless I finagle my way into another job! It's fucking rough dude.
Anyway, I just think that paying so much more for a system that in the end is worse than others basically sucks. Irrelevant of the underlying ideologies.

Shoo. As usual you have offered nothing.
Do you really have to use the N word? It lessens the potency of any argument you make. At some point civility and being a good person has to prevail. Even if you're a proud racist and you feel that way, what do you really gain from using that word?

You can see the problem right here in this thread: I think every single poster except one agrees that healthcare must be socialized but that one refuses to budge in the slightest, either out of ideology, selfishness or stubbornness. It's irrational & illogical, and makes no sense, yet here we are?!ssu wrote:I intended it as a honest question, not as some counterpunch.TheReal_ND wrote:My son suddenly dies from not being insured unless I finagle my way into another job! What is unfortunate is that Trump would have a far better chance of doing than any other politician. Sure, the lobbyists would get the Republicans on Capitol Hill enraged, but well, they would be as enraged as some are about Trump even now.Martin Hash wrote:You can see the problem right here in this thread: I think every single poster except one agrees that healthcare must be socialized but that one refuses to budge in the slightest, either out of ideology, selfishness or stubbornness. Now it seemed to be given to the Republicans to compromise something up.
Now if a bold plan wouldn't pass, that wouldn't be such a disaster. After all, outrageous scandals and disasters are the normal Trump and he survives with things where politicians would be long dead and buried, hence would be worth trying. What Trump can do is to seize the discourse. Just look at how he changed the whole rhetoric about the Iraq war in the Republican party, which was that President Bush had just gotten bad intel from the intel, but otherwise everything had been OK (a totally different topic, but a good example).

Both Democrats and Republicans can fuck off, they are out for their own self interests. Dan brought up a good point, that an illness shouldn't drive a family into bankruptcy, but this happens. The pettiness in politics is going to destroy this country. Main Street will not be our undoing, it's going to be Wall Street and Capitol Hill, there needs to be a collaboration to fix this, and neither side is willing to reach across the aisle. Guys, we're fucked. The only solution is to honestly make enough money and have a good enough job to take care of you and yours. Our representatives set the tone. Be selfish, if you're smart you will follow suit. There is no give and take in American politics, maybe there never was, but one thing is certain, if we stay on this path everyone will lose. I don't care who's in office, Congress is too selfish to notice.

It's threads like this that prove the value of intelligent debate. I'd heard all this stuff before, but it clicked this time. In fact, after re-reading the whole thing, I wrote a podcast encapsulating my newfound coalesced comprehension. (Speaker gets a big shout out.)

Or when the Big One finally hits us, or the Mississippi does one of its multi-state floods, or cat 5 hurricane, or a F5 tornado, or a major epidemic like the 1918 Spanish Flu comes around, or the Great Depression Two: This Time It Worse...Fife wrote:Wow, the state has really beaten your butt into pulp.

Sorry about that, man.
Look, l understand why people can be against government services, but there are times when the CDC, or FEMA is what's needed, because the Lions Club or your church will not be enough.
