Re: Women's March
Can we take the electoral college discussion to a new thread please? It's an interesting topic, but not here.

I agree. I do think it kind of fits here: protesters are angry -> feel disenfranchised -> popular vote vs EC -> EC discussion...PartyOf5 wrote:Can we take the electoral college discussion to a new thread please? It's an interesting topic, but not here.
But my spreadsheets probably don't belong here

FYI - the same thing is happening in most of the Northeast (another liberal dominated region).California wrote:The residents we're importing in huge numbers are from the rest of our country, not outside of it. Doesn't change a thing about what I said - you have a negative net outflow of middle class residents...it's just a matter of time unless you guys reverse that trend

Tell me about it... I'm in the middle of the NE, and all I hear is a sucking sound... then I realize, it's from the congress... they are sucking the soul out of the states up here.Zlaxer wrote:FYI - the same thing is happening in most of the Northeast (another liberal dominated region).California wrote:The residents we're importing in huge numbers are from the rest of our country, not outside of it. That is called 'the market,' which I thought you guys were in favor of. There is nothing liberal about the middle class exodus.Zlaxer wrote:FYI - the same thing is happening in most of the Northeast (another liberal dominated region).California wrote:The residents we're importing in huge numbers are from the rest of our country, not outside of it. LOL, yes there is.
Why do you think Detroit happened? Why do you think Chicago has experienced a net population loss for a decade now?

Me thinks you missed the point. You're correct- it is the market forcing the middle class out of CA. My comment was intended to convey my belief that the present CA market is the result of 30 years of liberal control. *Liberal as in progressive liberal (not classical liberal).

Look, I'm for reasonable environmental regs, labor laws, etc....but such policies only kill us without tariffs, because the 0.1% will exploit the shitty conditions in 3rd world countries to lower our living conditions here at home.
I'm for a free market, as long as we're not competing against quazi-slaves.

Doesn't mean that that stuff isn't worth giving a shit about it. A good portion of the world is a shit hole....I don't want the US to follow... We need to decide as a Nation whether we want to compete with the third world and not give a shit about the environment or labor laws...or seal ourselves off with tariffs and hope the rest of humanity comes to their senses....All you have to do is visit China to realize how bad things can get....

Re: Women's March
Humans revert back to acting like animals when they're barely surviving....Most humans in the world are poor, ignorant, and hungry....thus they don't even consider long term consequences of their actions, they only care about the here and now....The West's success has allowed our society t progress beyond the others so that we now have the luxury of considering long term consequences. In sum - we need to find a way to force the world to accept our standards as opposed to participating in the 0.1%'s race to the bottom.Zlaxer wrote:Speaker to Animals wrote:We are the only people on this planet who give a shit about any of this.
