This.
Wake the fuck up or reap the fucking whirlwind. You are facing a backlash, and calling it a whitelash only makes it worse.
You have no idea how sternly the core of this nation objects to the left. You are openly protesting the national anthem, after sixteen fucking years of war that you have never once considered taking part in.
I found out today that a soldier I sponsored into the Army got selected for promotion. She hasn't been to a promotion board. She's never held a leadership position. The job she holds has the greatest number within her field, and the Army is in such dire straights to promote within her field that she is being promoted to Non-commissioned officer without ever having faced a promotion board.
I'll try to explain it to you civilians. The Army promotes based on needs. When needs are low, promotion points are high. When needs are high, points are low. When needs are very high, points don't matter. When needs are very high, promotions go to anyone with a pulse, even if they've never held a leadership position, or demonstrated any ability to lead.
Promotions based on nothing more than a desperate need for people to hold leadership positions has been the norm for more than a year, as I've said multiple times.
Think about this for a second, the same monetary bonuses that were in play ten years ago, when soldiers were paid 40 thousand dollar bonuses to enlist for 4 years, are in play right now, yet the Army is still forced to promote junior soldiers to leadership positions, despite the fact that they don't meet basic leadership requirements.
NO ONE wants to stay in. That's what sixteen years of endless war has resulted in.
Then these folks get to watch millionaires take a knee when the anthem is played.
I told you all years ago that the military did not look kindly upon people who were okay with the idea that their military should be sentenced with endless wars while they took no part in said wars.
I remember being met with admonishment for thinking a society ought not behave this way.
Well, the breakup looks more inevitable as each day goes by, and the reasons for defending the system that was so willing to sacrifice it's soldiers diminish.
