The Democrat Machine ain't shit. And the Hawaii Democrat Machine ain't shit either. The theory that it's harder to become a Democrat Senator than POTUS is blatantly laughable.
Timing is everything. All the impetus is now, not 4 years from now, now. A Republican has not held a Senate seat since 1977 and an incumbent US Senator has not been defeated in a primary in Hawaii since never. The Hawaii machine is real. Tulsi gabbard is veing primaried in her congressional seat, he is a vet, the machine is backing him. She can't and won't run for reelection in her own congressional seat Her career in politics is backed into a corner, it is now or never.
No, it's not. The impetus is not now at all, the entire time she is running to set herself up for down the road, she never had a chance in 2020 and she knew it. This POTUS run is to run for higher office, there is literally no other reason to do it. Hawaii doesn't have any Senators of merit, they are not as entrenched as you think they are. At this point Tulsi has higher name recognition than either of their sitting Senators.
Unlike Obama, she won't be able to thrive off the wave of popularity he did.

If anything that infrastructure will be destroyed and the people who kept it up either imprisoned of kicked out of office or both.

Either way, she doesn't have a chance this election cycle or the next. Senator or not, her name won't be enough to do anything beyond becoming a senator.

If the Democrats are ready to come back to the center, and she is ready to triangulate, she'll be in the mix, just on the weakness of the Centrist Democrat bench. If they want to stay in the far left wilderness, then her window won't be open yet, depends on when the Democrats finally wise up.

The whole thread is about "if this, then that" dude, this is the 2024 election thread, it's all hypothetical at this point.

If, if, if, if. A world built on hopes and dreams will collapse because a foundation on imagination and no substantial evidence is nothing better than the clouds they were created on.

Ummm, no. It's not. It's all hypothetical based off of facts. The DNC shows no proof that they will come back from this.

Their instinct is to go left, and right now the have veered so far left that they have more in common with Castro and the KKK than JFK, which is so far right of them he would be a Republican by today's standards.

Assuming current trends will continue forever is folly. Historical precedent says the Dems get their shit together eventually, quite possibly by 2024, especially if they run a far lefty in 2020 and get smashed. Parties don't continue to move away from center forever, there is a pendulum effect. Their instinct right now is to go left, but that could easily change by 2024. You won't see any signs of it until after they lose in 2020 anyway, they need to learn another lesson or two in presidential election before they change their ways, and if the Democrats are lucky, it will only take one more loss for it to finally sink in and throw the far left under the bus.

Under that not hugely unlikely scenario, Tulsi 2024 is a realistic possibility. The Dems might need to fail three times in a row before they get their mojo back, but if they need to fail more than that to get the message, I'd be surprised. If they aren't back in the White House by 2028, that would be surprising.

The last time the democrats made a turn that was drastic, they killed a president.

They already tried a coup on this one. I don't think we are going to see the turn you are expecting any time soon.

The last time the Democrats made a turn this drastic was 1972, and Jimmy Carter won the next election in 1976. Then they only lost three elections in a row after Carter out in too far left wilderness, before Clinton came along. Two elections is the usual turnaround time, sometimes three, sometimes one, but the Democrats are clearly too far left in 2020 to win, so looking more like two or three.

Using Clinton as a barometer is not much of a ruler. He started the DNC machine rolling left so far that Jimmy seemed to be a safe bet in today's political climate.

With what has been revealed so far started back with Clinton in office. So I really wouldn't use Clinton as a point of saying what was a ”readjustment” was.

He abused the shit out of the system.
