So not at all self aware...

And yet this theme of the Jedi's reaction to the dark side of the force in the apprentices driving them away seems to be deliberately written into the stories...

It was there with Yoda and Anakin...

And again now with Luke and Kylo...

Can't really be a coincidence can it?

Maybe one or two of the authors has self awareness?

You're reading too much into it.
It's a lack of creativity on the part of the writers, no ability to really expand the story, afraid to destroy the golden goose. So they just keep rehashing things and put what they consider to be modern sensibilities on it. I listened to a couple of the authorized books on audio in the 90s, they were far superior in story telling than this crap.

This is why Force Awakens was a blatant nock off of the original, they just modernized it up by making Luke a girl and getting an updated robot. Fucking creativity is weak. Hell, they even had the new jedi girl on a desert planet.

This is why Rogue One was so good, it was out of the box for the franchise, they only had a few side boards to play in and they did a great job.

The message of the new Star Wars seems to be Masculinity is Toxic.

No...

I don't think I am...

The only question is whether this is a self-aware aspect of the Star Wars Trilogy...

Or the hidden unconscious Jungian underbelly of the tale.

You give them far too much credit. Look what they did with the flaw in the original Death Star. They wrote an entire film to Right, one of the biggest plot holes of the original Lucas film. They still haven't figured out how fix the Luke - Leia Incest problem.

I don't worship at the alter of Lucas or Disney.

Well I don't either...

I liked the first 6 movies.... because the story of Darth Vadar was excellent.

The 6 episode cycle did the story justice... Putting the prequels second worked in a weird way.

The Jedi were imperfect... I also liked that.

These last 3 episodes haven't added anything so far....

They are campy nostalgic fun... but so far... a superfluous recycling of the original story...

Yeah, it's all on the villain. Take Michael Keatons Batman. Not a great film, but Nicholson was so great as the Joker in transitional phase of Batman from 60s funnies to a more serious Batman. It just made the film great.

Darth Vader is one of the greatest villains of all time.
This new generation gave us Kilo Ren as a villain    That guy looks like he's afraid of his own shadow.
Hell, the New Order or whatever they are calling the Empire now is weak. Phasma? The chrome commander is interesting, and has some of the mystery of Vader, she could be a great villain if the don't F it up.

I'm not rushing to see this copy, even as much as I want to see Luke Skywalker again, I pretty much watch these the way I now watch the Walking Dead. It's a great story that has been F'd up, but I'm in deep enough now I'm going to keep watching.

I'm pretty sure we'll end up with an Indy Jones Episode IV with Star Wars too eventually.

God, that woman was beautiful. She's probably got a tragic story, tho. I get the impression that she was used up and destroyed by Hollywood Weinstein-types.

Star Wars icon, talk about a blessing and curse.

You can't get another job, because you are so closely tied to Star Wars. What do you do? It probably messes with your head too. Being in Hollywood and whenever you walk into the room you are seen as Princess Leia. She probably would have been better to just leave town and live comfortably. But she was a Hollywood kid, not much of a chance.
