An inheritance tax is a double-dip taxation on the same money. It either already got taxed, or will be taxed when those that inherited the money are required to pull it out of pre-tax accounts (minimum distribution).

The point isn't about fairness, it's about stopping the creation of an aristocracy. Just accept the fact that you prefer an aristocracy over liberty, because this ends in socialism, and we'll call it a draw.

But, the system is rigged and it's rigged by the people with the most, to benefit the people with the most.

To say that the system is rigged to benefit those with the most assumes that benefiting those with the most isn't baked into the cake of civilization.

and the government is so great at deciding how to do that..... they know better than everyone else, and certainly Hash knows better than anyone who would dare to pass down an inheritance greater than $5 million, that's enough of a headstart, why do they need anymore, fuck their liberty.

You need to stop thinking of aristocracy defense and start thinking of ways to get more people who earned it into the aristocracy, you got it all backwards.

The problem is the bottom boats are not rising. The 1% have had triple digit increases since the Reagan years, but the middle class and poor class have not. Rising water may lift all boats, but rising profits doesn't lift all people.

Sure but the solution is not to take from the rich, it's to increase the opportunity for people of all classes to get rich, if they earn it. The best way to do that is not punish the rich, we want to incentive people to earn, not penalize it. Redistribution isn't the best way to do things.
