Do the runestones remain interesting to the people where you live?
Runestones never get outdated. The feeling you get when standing before one and actually reading and understanding the words is hard to explain. It's a 1000 years old message you are reading. There were a lot of them around where I grew up.
Hmm...if you had to make a runestone about a story from our culture today, what would it be?
Try again.

I guess carving runes onto stone was pretty time consuming. They probably had to pay the carver by the letter so I see it like telegrams from the past.

No, I mean the message would be "Try Again".

I guess my question is more about, if you wanted to tell an interesting tale with a runestone that would capture something unique about our current era or culture for future generations to appreciate in a quasi-symbolic way, what would the story be? Not an easy question to answer, I think.

It would be more entertaining to carve penis swastikas and let future generations figure out the deep meaning behind it.

Most runic inscriptions said things like Hastur was here.
"She had yellow hair and she walked funny and she made a noise like... O my God, please don't kill me! "
