Also bear in mind, by this time, the British, like the Union, had already sussed out that industrialization trumps fertilization, to wit, incorporation trumps plantation, the Confederacy was built, on what were in effect, family businesses, the British certainly wanted the cotton and tobacco, but they were by this point inclined, to simply buy shares in the American Enterprize, there wasn't really anything in Richmond, which the British could even invest their interests in, what was the Confederacy in the end? Nothing really, there was no there there, it was just a romantic notion, which did not actually have a concrete business plan.
