The GOP is guaranteeing that the Dems gain seats in the 2018 election. They all paraded around for years claiming that if they got control of congress and the WH they would then be able to fix things like Obamacare. The voters gave them majorities in both the House and Senate, and gave them the WH. Now they break into all these insolent factions that all want things exactly their way. What a bunch of children.

I lean conservative, but if this is what we are going to get for the next 2 years, I won't shed a tear for any of them who get tossed out in 2018. I also won't care if the Dems gain control of either the House or Senate. What a bunch of fools.

The voters gave them what they said they needed in order to get things done. If they can't get those things done, they will be out quickly.

I assume that Trump is clueless on just how bad things will be if the GOP takes a beating in the Midterms and in what kind of world of pain he will be then.

But what are the poll numbers?? We do great in polls - the best. Anyone who says different is Lye-ing. Don't trust 'em. Fake News. Sad!

Trump doesn't care if GOP congressmen lose their spots in 2018.

Agree. Trump has proven it's about Trump.

Not only that but all this talk about the Dems killing it in the midterms is forgetting the fact that the seats up for grabs are held mostly by Democrats and winning those seats won't gain them any ground.

Hey guys, been a while. You're talking about Senate seats, all the House seats are up every election. It would take a huge win to flip the house, but T's working on it.

Seriously? Have you forgotten so quickly? That's socialism you're talking about, and everything 8 years of Obamahate was focused on. Obama would have been thrilled with that solution, but he couldn't even get red states to take federal medicaid expansion cash. 7 years and the GOP still has no actual replacement plan.

Call it whatever you want. I guarantee most Americans would support a free market-based health insurance system where Medicare could deal with people who can't get insurance. If the GOP took up that issue along with the economic nationalism and immigration reform that was in Trump's platform, they'd be in control for generations.

Be honest. If Obama had proposed that, would a single Republican have supported it? How would your system deal with the incentive for businesses to not provide insurance and let the Feds pay? You'd have to force them to, right? That wouldn't go over with the GOP. The natural end would be a single payer system for the majority of American, and that's something the GOP has held up as an anathema for many decades.

Brew's correct.

For comparison: the NHS is 60% of Britain's healthcare & private insurance is the other 40%. I'd expect those numbers to be about the same in the U.S. That would triple Medicare enrollment.

Medicare would definitely have to come out of the General Fund because the current First Dollar tax scheme would destroy low wage-earners.
