AUSTIN (KXAN) — A re-election celebration is underway in Pod 2 of the Montgomery County Jail after inmate number 232573 claimed victory in Texas House District 27. That inmate is known as Rep. Ron Reynolds, D-Missouri City, to the people on the outside.

Reynolds was unopposed in the race for District 27 and the latest vote totals show Reynolds garnered 47,305 votes in Tuesday's election.

Reynolds was booked into the county jail on Sept. 7. He's serving a year-long sentence after a 2015 conviction on five misdemeanor counts of using a middleman to chase ambulances in order to solicit clients for Reynolds’ law firm.

There's an entire mortgage fraud industry that stole billions and no one was ever even prosecuted, yet this dude is serving time for 5 nonviolent misdemeanors? Something tells me he pissed off the people in power.

How much did you pay for the fedora in your avatar? If you bought it with cash off of craigslist, then I'm guessing you didn't pay sales tax. Ok fine. But what if 20 guys did that? 200? 2000? Everyone in your district? The state would lose millions of dollars each year, and they need that money for the amazon tax audit. If Amazon didn't redistribute that money, then we'd have to use netflix until it decided to pay its sales tax.

I disagree, much of what went on was clearly law breaking, from the "liar loans" to the overstated appraisals. But it was business as usual. Same as Manafort's various scams. He would never have come under scrutiny except for his ties to the world's most visible man. I took a look at some of the reportage on this dude, sounds like he was being singled out for what was common practice, and he got pissed and refused to plead out and take the fine. Do you think it shocking and unlikely that a black attorney and Democratic legislator might get targeted by the Texas judicial machine?
