Liberals have simply promised to do it all by "taxing the rich" for too many decades, while always failing to do so, the "tax the rich" card overplayed, to the point of general and ever expanding alienation.

The rural states are going completely red, Wyoming the Reddest of the Red, because that is the people who are seeing their revenue extracted, at the cost of job growth in their states, for it to be handed over to the cities, to fund an endless calvalcade of utopian do gooderist pet projects, simple as that.
