The handle's just an inside joke, partially related to my job as a calculus tutor in college.

Yourself?
Cool shit. A fellow student is studying materials science.

My major is mechanical. I'm a math tutor on campus as well. Primarily the cal II students right now. My boss pointed out that learning it is one thing, teaching it is another. Says I'll be an expert by the end of the semester.

It was steam engines that set me down this path,

Those who know, do. Those who understand, teach.

The one exclusive sign of thorough knowledge is the ability to teach.

Yeah, he's really good. I'm excited to check out the steel one.

Side note: Why the HELL are we still teaching grade school with centuries-old methods, when we have people like this working for free? Please, Betsy, please...

Added to my wishlist, thanks for the rec.

It's too bad there wasn't much in our curriculum about historical materials/methods, because it's really interesting stuff.

It's only certain majors that get the history electives. Math majors for instance. Fellow tutors are taking classes on stuff like that, and they don't even appreciate it. History junkies like me only get one history mandatory, and one possible elective.

I think the point is that the first requirement on the list is a degree.
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, engineering, math, or science discipline
    6 months experience with C++

Probably should not include reading comprehension, but under the circumstances..

I can see TC fucking something up and arguing over a comma in the requirements documentation while the remains of a rocket are fished out of the ocean.

You must be talking out of experience. I at least know the difference between a semicolon and a roman comma.
