You'd have less redistribution under the Canadian system, top marginal income tax rate is 39%, corporate tax rate is 18%, capital gains is exempt on the first 50% of earnings.
Well, cool, the Royalists will like that.
If you want more wealth redistribution than Canada, then you want too much redistribution. You need to get a better imagination to empower the middle class and lower classes, and stop being so damn lazy by thinking the best solution is to just take from the rich.

Income taxes are basically the same in Canada, corporate taxes are lower, capital gains are better protected, the main difference in Canada is that we have higher consumption taxes, value added rather than confiscatory.
So you agree America will be Canada.
If America instituted a value added consumption tax across the board, and single payer healthcare with a public option, then it would much more Canada like.

America WILL BE LIKE Canada, and Canada WILL BE LIKE Europe. I can't understand why people don't see this? Democracy, guys.

Redistribution sucks. Inheritance Taxes won't stop an aristocracy from existing, drop the bullshit.

Canada is far more like the United States than it is like Europe, the de facto integrated North American market precludes European levels of non compete policies.

Pretty much.

A direct democracy is much more feasible today with our communications and transportation technology the way they are, but you'd still have to drastically limit enfranchisement to keep the republic stable.

Canada is basically just like the United States with higher consumption taxes, public healthcare, gun control, and a modest 1.2% GDP military budget.

.... in Canada.

In America we have so much liberty we have to create an opposition party (Democrats) to keep that shit under control.
