My posts go into my books. Your posts are at my mercy.
Luckily you believe in liberty or I would fear being banned for making a joke at your expense.
God bless America.

The reason I'm more sympathetic to this is that I know where he's at. I have some astounding stuff that no one else will pitch for me so I have to pitch it myself then I get the blowback you're giving Peterson. Man, it's a bitch.
I am a stoic. This shit is just amusement to me. People that chase success in that way are never happy. They can never be content with what they have, so it's unlikely they can be content with more. People like that are geared towards chasing ephemeral metrics of life success, but they tend to miss the important things. LOTS of people fail to succeed, but they still possess that inner greed for success, so they are quite susceptible to snake oil like this.
If you look at a guy like Steve Jobs, the success was just a product of who he was. He had plenty of flaws, but he wasn't really a greedy person. The man literally wore the same budget outfit every day. So does Warren Buffet for that matter. The guy who started Ikea at least in the 2000s drove around in a beater.
Attachments like the need to be "successful" are poisonous, and Peterson capitalizes on them, throwing gasoline on the fires of people's self-destructive behavior for his own gain.
He's not out there trying to help people to figure out how to achieve contentment, or happiness, or tranquility in life. He's telling them they are all losers and they have to follow him in order to reverse their misfortune. It's silly. I mean.. if that appeals to you, that's fine. I don't begrudge you.
I am more interested in stoics, myself. In particular, I prefer to seek tranquility and contentment. I don't need more. I need to figure out how to enjoy and appreciate what I have. That's not what Peterson is selling.
That's not to say I think people should not attempt to succeed at difficult goals. I definitely think those are good things. What I think is stupid is making those the metrics of whether your life was worth living. Because if those are your metrics, your life very well hasn't been worth living.
I must not be listening to that stuff from him because I don't get that at all. What you are describing sounds like Scientology to me.

He doesn't really address any of the interesting things you could argue about when it comes to language and gender and the specifics of English grammar, or even the subjective experience of identity.
I mean, he seems to be adequately pro- free speech, but that is pretty low hanging fruit when it comes to 'nailing' the SJWs.
Rather cynical self-help guru making fast cash on atomized millennials makes more sense than brave slayer of the lefts sacred cows when you really look at most of JP's positions.
I feel like you must not have seen much of his stuff. He has hours and hours of lectures on youtube tearing down classical and cultural marxism.
And I don't get the cult con-man shit either. You can watch his shit for free.
Folks are getting spooked so easy these days.

Jim goes over it in the video in OP. I wouldn't call it cultish so much as highly profitable. Which is why he ultimately has to disinvite people from speaking at his free speech speech.

I watched a lot of his videos, trying to figure out what people were so excited about. The shit he says about Marxism, cultural or otherwise, is no more insightful than I hear from ya'll. Pretty standard shit, really. And, I get the impression that he uses the term 'postmodern' more or less at random, totally untethered from a meaningful definition.
It sounds clever and convincing enough to someone who already thinks all of those things, but adds nothing interesting. Total confidence scam. You want to believe he is clever, because that means you are clever, and he has the coursework to sell you if you want to be even more happy, clever, and successful.
Not impressed. Standard neno-liberal fair, adequate but uninteresting psychoanalytical statements, tons of preening about being the line in the sand against subjectivity, and a bunch of self-help crap that is little different from The Secret.
Sure, he comes off well arguing against mentally subnormal weirdos, but who doesn't?
HAIL!
Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

Maybe you've seen more than I have, but I don't have a long list of good speakers who get good views giving talks to filled rooms about the marxists who want to burn down western civilization.
If you've got better, post something.
