Interesting comparisons after the list. I wonder what conclusions can be drawn.

Dude, I was in two of the three worst in the nation in one day. I could have driven down to DC and made it a hat trick.doc_loliday wrote:https://wallethub.com/edu/best-run-cities/22869/

I thought Capitol was for the building in DC. Not to quibble but isn't capital the word we are looking for? I could be wrong about this.

It's almost as if somebody should release an app that checks your spelling and grammar so you don't make mistakes like that. I would dye for such an app.

For some reason, I can find excatly zero statistical data that measures "Socialists per capita" for either Denmark or the United States. Probably a reason for that... could be the same reason that alot of crime stats measure in "per capita"? I have read that measuring gdp per capita is not an accurate way to determine the economic level of the average citizen, but I don't know if that criticism can apply to measuring crime rate. After all, I doubt there's a murder equivalent of median income, which is usually touted as the better alternative to gdp per capita.Okeefenokee wrote:Yeah, but what about the per capita rate?BjornP wrote:I've just found out that the US is more Socialist than Denmark.

Denmark: Total votes for Socialist parties = 1,346,981
USA: Total votes for Socialist Parties (Green party + Socialist Party USA) = 1,461,277
I'm expecting you lot be bringing out some red, hammer and sickle flags any day now, then.
All in all, determining the facts based on only one data point, is usually not very helpful. I see Kath defending using one set of data, but has anyone asked her if she rejects every single other way of determining crime rates?

My fault for going down a rabbit hole with TC. The main premise of the thread is that Chicago has the worst murder rate. He used the number of murders as his only data point.BjornP wrote:

I was merely trying to explain to him that the number of murders is not a good way to determine if a particular city has the worst murder rate, pointing out that the per capita number paints a better picture.
Of course I don't believe one data point tells a whole story. I'm a data nerd, FFS.
With TC, even if you keep things VERY simple, he gets confused. Everyone knows this.
Account abandoned.

Division yo, no sources needed for that, right?
