So they refused to give it the name the public wanted it to be named?
Yes they did go against the public vote. However I think this was a good thing, funny as it was for a bunch of kids to call for it to be named BoatyMcBoatface no one deserves the honour more than Sir David Attenborough. He is a national treasure and at 90 years old he is still working on some of the best wildlife programs ever made. I think in years to come when many of the animals he filmed are long extinct his programs will be an everlasting record of what we have lost.
True story. I love his programs.

Another "shocking scandal" from the Germans.
More than 200 German police officers were removed from their duties ahead of the G20 summit in Hamburg Wednesday after three units were busted for a scandalous night of partying.

The officers’ wild night in the city, where world leaders will convene for the annual forum next week, included public sex and female police officer doing a strip-tease with her gun, according to AFP.

“Yeah, we were celebrating! ” the police statement said, adding that two officers had been celebrating their birthdays. The caption to the photo they posted read “human.”

“They drank, danced, pissed and, yes, apparently also bonked, as our press officer put it so well,” the statement added, referring to the young officers.

When I skimmed that news story earlier, I thought that they got fired for being drunk, fucking and pissing on the job. A very different story when that isn't the case.

The Russian military mocked Britain's new aircraft carrier on Thursday, saying the HMS Queen Elizabeth presented "a large convenient target" and would be wise to keep its distance from Moscow's warships.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
