The fact that many news outlets copy/paste stories and present them as their own is not news. We've known this for years. The less informed are just catching on, but you and I and most here have known this for a long, long time.
We shouldn't have to re-have that discussion every time there's a new story. We'll never get anything accomplished if we have to keep doing that.

Except that metro sales don't tell us how many people attended the inauguration. There are other ways to get there than buying a metro pass. So it isn't proof of anything. He had a pretty good sized crowd, backed up all the way to the monument, no doubt smaller than Obama's in 2009, but nowhere near as small as the misleading photos taken after Trump left for the White House, that you think make the claim so laughable.
Metro ridership is definitely correlated. There are only a few ways to get there: by foot (not enough hotels within walking distance), cab or mass transit. Cars would be out for logistical reasons and there are only so many cabs, which can only get so close.

Correlation doesn't equal causation. Look at the size of the crowd in the pictures I just posted on the last page and tell me those metro sales are meaningful to Trump's crowd size with a straight face. Just because Trump didn't top Obama in 2009 doesn't mean his inauguration crowd wasn't YUGE, no matter how much the media tries to lie about it.

Road closures
Driving around the District will prove challenging — and not just on Inauguration Day, itself.
There are a significant number of road closures and parking restrictions cutting off main traffic arteries through D.C. Some of the restrictions begin two days before the inauguration itself and extend past Inauguration Day.

Now, it's early on. Trump has to find a way to rise above rolling in the mud with a hateful, vengeful corporate media establishment
.
Forget that. Congress is going to be the heavy lifting give these bitches everything they give you. GWB did a whole bunch of rising above and all they do is pull you down. They'll pull you down, surrond you and before you know it four of you are dead and Kath and Penn are dutifully reporting it was cause of a youtube video and then after they get caught. "What difference does it make?" There is the rub Trump has no room for error he strays a bit and rhey go to Defcon 1 but the press and dems fuck up badly and there is Kath "What difference does it make?"

Explain that crowd size if metro sales are the end all be all of "real" numbers? There are 250,000 people in area just before the waterline alone.

OK. I don't disagree with any of that.
But I think where we disagree is how the Trump administration reacts and takes on the press.
The corporate media is treating the rise of Trump far different than they did BHO. They were in love with BHO and are hostile to Trump. You wouldn't argue much with that would you ?
To me, Trump is calling the press on their failures where he can, because he's the type of guy to fight back. Just that simple. Secondary to that, Trump is reaching out to those folks who don't understand Journalistic Ethics have been shit.

Might be useful if people here posted what argument they are making.
Right now, there are a few different cases being argued at each other, that don't line up.
Are you debating if the WH Press Secretary knowingly made false statements?
Are you debating whether or not Trump's inauguration was under-reported?
Are you debating whether Trump's inauguration had a larger or smaller attendance than Obama's 1st/2nd?
Make your case, and you'll quickly find there are 3 different debates going on in this thread.

So Trump's crowd got there despite that and protesters blocking the way? So despite those obstacles they broke through anyway, whereas a Democrat gets a flat tire on election day they scream "voter suppression" and you cry along with them.

She won't respond to the crowd size clearly dwarfing her metro sales figures on that day. She is going to ignore that and pretend she is winning the argument somehow.
