August promotion points.

Look how many MOSs have promotion points at 40/800 or 15/800 and yet eligible for promotion is in the single digits.

Many have zero eligible.

Unbelievable.

12D - Engineering Diver - Zero to single digit points
12Y - Geospatial Engineer - Zero to single digit points

Both jobs will get you 150K in the civilian world, with very expensive civilian schooling.
That's the thing will civilian employers take that military experience instead of the schooling? Cause in my experience not so much and 3 of the services advertise themselves as glorified job centers.
It really depends on the job. In some jobs, like the geospatial engineering, you will come out of there more skilled and more experienced than having a masters degree from a University.

Yeah, they will hire them. Even more so if you're coming with a security clearance already in jobs where that matters.

The only place I know of where the civilian version doesn't want the military version is police hiring military police. From what I've been told, police prefer infantry, and generally don't want any MPs.

A security clearance, especially TS/SCI, costs employers quite a bit for the background investigation - and no guarantee of passing it you are an average civilian. Having had one already saves them a lot of money, especially if you're fresh out of the military. Someone told me once it was like $80k for a new TS/SCI investigation, on top of which they have you sitting around for maybe 6 months doing whatever makework they can come up with before you get it. That alone can make it worth their while to bring someone in that has one already and provide some training if needed.

Oh I know the clearance is valuable, just wondering about anything else. I have heard some mutterings here and there that civilian employers just want that civilian schooling because they have no idea about the military training and some insurance companies and legal departments just want that standardized training and certification.

Can certainly vouch for that. HR departments just want to check a box for “degree”. Makes no difference what you actually know or have done.

Well, now I withdraw my remarks and regret saying them.

HR is probably also staffed with SJW gender studies majors who might see the military as "toxic masculinity".
