Did anyone else notice as the patriotism and testosterone shot up in this thread, certain posters left and surrendered the field? It's like election night all over again.

I've only ever come face to face with a rutting moose, once, I just played it cool, no sudden movement, he kind of did a warning pass, charged a bit to see what I would do, but on an angle, didn't come straight at me, when I didn't blink, I guess he just decided that I wasn't a problem, so he wandered off to look for cows.

Surprised a Glock was sufficient. Comments say it was a 10mm. I figure it has to be heavier than a 9mm.
Moose are scary, man.

I didn't even have time to be scared, he came out of nowhere, I just stopped dead in my tracks, then when came up close, we kind of had a moment there, him looking at me with his big old eye saying "do you wanna mess with me?" and me looking back saying "no I do not, sir" he paused for a moment and thought about it, then he said "OK, carry on", and went about his business.

I only think it can happen with more face to face communication. With the millennials running things I don't know how that's going to happenC-Mag wrote:Props to that teacher.SilverEagle wrote:I'm sick of these assholes. Go spend a month in Africa then come back, then tell us how you feel!

We need to find a way to discuss this rationally. How Police engage Civilians is a problem in the US. The feelings on Race are obviously a problem. We need to attempt to reconcile these issues.
Will we ever be able to have a rational debate based on the facts? I'm not sure.

A lot of regular people will have to start attending ComiCon and other nerd conventions.California wrote:Will we ever be able to have a rational debate based on the facts? I'm not sure.

That's the only way to catch them outside of mom's basement.

Oh and by the way, the moose that guy shot with the glock? That was just a baby, the moose I ran into, three times that size, at least. When I was looking him in the eye, I was looking almost straight up, and his antlers were blocking out the sky.
That wasn't a rutting alpha being agressive, that was just a little kid being scared, if that was a rutting alpha, he'd be dead, that glock wouldn't have saved him. Maybe it would bleed to death eventually, but glock boy would be long trampled by then.
My buddy shot a big alpha, with a .308, in the neck, and we had to walk the blood trail 3 miles to find him.

Moose ain't that scary, if you're gonna fear something in the Canadian woodlands, fear the cougar, doesn't matter what you're packing; ambush predator, against the hungry cougar, you don't stand much of a chance, as it will be on top of you, before you can touch the trigger, and it is so fuckin' fast and ferocious, point man is gonna get torn to pieces, before back up can even get a shot off.
