When I think of the officer corps and especially West Point, I just think of magnificent killing machines who's ideology is the US Constitution and whose motive is to annihilate all its enemies with zeal. That's it. To go to West Point and then get caught up in this political bullshit is to miss the point. Such a waste.

See, I was right about him doing it to get his dad angry. Talk about rebelling! Heck, the dad distanced his boy as far as possible.

Besides, I think it's stupid to first go apply for Ranger school, serve in Afghanistan and then apply for a school were you answer "Yes Sir!" "No Sir!" for the first year and be surrounded by so Gung-ho kids who have yet never been deployed and seen the real thing (but are so ready for it). Far better to go to OCS, where there can be other enlisted.

Boot camp is great for raw recruits, yet it's not good for someone that already passed it.
