I would gladly take the North Koreans mind you, because anybody who flees a Communist Dictatorship absolutely despises the Left with a passion, they would all be Right Wing Nutjobs voting Conservative to the max, but alas, pretty sure they would be heading for the Sun Belt, where even Canadians are want to flee.

Like Nukes you mean?.
No, I'm talking about communism versus capitalism, and historical relations.

You'd hope.
But you're dealing in western concepts as if they were universal ones. If you've ever seen Chinese "democracy" demonstrators try to fumble their way through what they mean when they say the want "democracy" you know there's a huge learning curve that the East hasn't ascended yet. And these are Chinese *students*. Educated folk.
Now think of a bunch of half-starved North Korean peasants and folks who were born and lived their young lives inside prison camps - try explaining that whole left/right western paradigm of government to them.
Good luck!

Nah, they wouldn't come to Canada, it's too much like North Korea here, they'd all be Freedom Nuts, heading for this Land of the Free that they have heard so much about, plus warm weather, pretty sure the North Koreans would not be fleeing one frozen wasteland just to go to another frozen wasteland.

There's racism here, bro. They need to go to the more enlightened north.

Oh no, they know the score, anybody who has lived in one of those regimes knows the score, it's seared right into them, whether it be Eastern Europeans, or Cubans, or the Chinese, they all end up on the Right vehemently opposing the Left, the people who don't know the score, are the Leftarded dingbats here in Canada, who constantly agitate for a Communist Dictatorship of their very own.

There is more of a desire for a buffer state in Korea since the end of the cold war, not less. Now there is even more nukes in mix and that's a big reason why. Another big reason is North Korea is so backward, nobody wants to touch it with a ten foot pole, and the gap between North Korea and the countries it borders will continue to widen over time and fuel even more desire for a buffer state as opposed to a Unified Korea. Like Smitty says they prefer to contain NK than take ownership of a giant liability.

The regime in Pyongyang will collapse, when it can no longer afford to lavish its supporters with perks and luxuries, it's not going to be the peasant slaves who rise up and overthrow the Kim Dynasty, it's going to be coming from within the walls of the Palace, and Kim & Co well knows it, because that is the threat they spend all their time and effort trying to stave off.

This is why he sent the hit squad to Malaysia to kill his brother with the VX, the threat is the military deciding that they want to moderate the situation and have a more liberalized regime, go the Chinese route; Communism Lite, so any possible figurehead who could come in and supplant the Juche Regime, must be headed off at the pass.

The DPRK wouldn't so much implode into a black hole and disappear, it would just go Glasnost, overthrowing Juche, but not the centrally planned authoritarian government, it would just moderate to a more contemporary paradigm, there would still be a North Korea, it would just be liberalized to a degree, and this is why the Kim Dynasty is so paranoid, because this is a very doable scenario, total anihaltion of the regime, that's not going to come from within the regime, but total anihlation of the Kim and moderation of the regime thereafter, that is what the Kimster & Co are really afraid of.

The Mandarins in the palace are constantly decapitating the military and eliminating possible sucessors, because they know that as soon as the military decides that Juche Kim is no longer in its interests and there is a viable successor, they will make their move.

Having only a few decades ago a cult of worship, a Cultural Revolution and a situation where the country faced possible widespread starvation if the harvest was bad, China truly shows how you can change, without fucking it up as the Soviet Union did with giving freedom with Glasnost/Perestroika yet fucking up the economy. As Marx said, economy comes first...

(China, not so long time ago, actually)

Hence China certainly gives a great example how to do it... and hence is an extremely dangerous idea for the ruling cabal in North Korea. Nothing is more dangerous than Juche-lite.

There was a time when the North Koreans would have flourished in the U.S. They will still do great in Mexico and South America. Maybe even Australia.
