I guess that makes Dan Carlin a Trumpette after all, as nobody does more blubbering for the plight of the Kremlin set upon by the American Evil Empire, than Dan The Whole War Was A Warcrime Carlin. <sniggers>ssu wrote:BjornP wrote:SJW's have their poor, victimized little brown people. That a reply to me? Why would you deduce that what I am saying is that "it would be better if that info never came to light"? As long as the data is unedited and verifiable, data about the Clinton's corruption was and is valuable for US voters. That Russia gained access to both Democrat and Republican servers, though, should be treated with a little seriousness, though.Zlaxer wrote:Even if the Ruskies are the ones who leaked the goods to Wikileaks (WikiLeaks btw denies it was a state actor)....it doesn't change the contents of the leaks...which Billary and the DNC conveniently seem to gloss over.....so you're saying it would be better if that info never came to light?
Does the US (feebly and inefficiently) try and influence Russian public and political opinion? That's a standard response by those that think this is a question of "hypocricy" or..."principles". The US could have done the same 10.000 times to Russia, and it would still be worse that Russia did it to you. Why? Because they did it to you. Unless you're a globalist, which country matters and should matter more to you? Little brown people in Syria, Little Green Men in Russia, or the Red White and Blue Men and Women of the United States of America?
Yup. He's free to believe that the US is better off without NATO, etc. But his, "We backstabbed them!"- flagellation... *yawn* Read my sig. DC also not many years ago had the genius idea that the way to end global Islamic terrorism was to create a new caliphate. Look how great that worked out.Smitty wrote:I guess that makes Dan Carlin a Trumpette after all, as nobody does more blubbering for the plight of the Kremlin set upon by the American Evil Empire, than Dan The Whole War Was A Warcrime Carlin. <sniggers>

Putin is great. It's like having two presidents at once with the MSM.
"So you mean I can have TWO right wing presidents at the same time? What's the catch?"

Preaching to the Cold Warrior Choir, but as Article V has not been invoked over the trace in Europe, there's no casus belli in play with the Russians.BjornP wrote:Yup. That can be, but now it's also the right wingers. In my view there's a line between being critical about your government yet at the same time supporting the institutions, and then being critical and also being so demoralized, that one doesn't trust the institutions at all.Smitty-48 wrote:Do the American Intelligence agencies have more credbility in America than Vadimir Putin? Thanks to the Lefties mostly in fact; NSA, CIA, FBI; thy name is mud.
I think the real cause here is the never ending negativity in US politics. The mudslinging, malicious charges and discredition that both parties use against each other. It's the real reason for the division, the demoralization and mistrust of one's own institutions. Every little mishap is blown out of all proportions. Nothing the government does is a success. As if the US government doesn't have anything to do with the ideologies that the country was based upon, but some nasty evil Empire itself.
Actually, Dan is the best example of what is the antidote for this is. Engagement, how actual engagement with a person can have an effect on that person.Smitty-48 wrote:I guess that makes Dan Carlin a Trumpette after all, as nobody does more blubbering for the plight of the Kremlin set upon by the American Evil Empire, than Dan The Whole War Was A Warcrime Carlin. <sniggers>
Remember the time when somebody invited Dan as a "new media" guy to the Pentagon? It was Dan's greatest moment. The generals listened to Dan and answered, gave him the no-nonsense view of what it all looks like. Dan refers to that moment even today (as Mattis was there at that time present... and Dan came to be a Mattis fan). Dan is exactly the type of guy that given the moment to meet some generals who actually tell how it is and interact, a person like Dan can be easily turned into supporting things and above all, to have a respect for the military leaders and the institution. Sure, he will be critical about things like torture and uphold those freedoms, but still, he won't be demoralized.
This is the thing that the US government I think is lacking: a way to engage with it's own citizens that they understand and support their own government.

When Donald Trump is sworn in as Commander-in-Chief, those institutions will be on the Right side again, until he is, they all work for Barry Soetoro, and you think the GOP in Congress is going to take on James Patton Mattis and Co, for being soft on the Russians? Methinks not.ssu wrote:That can be, but now it's also the right wingers. Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
A tiny part of the leadership changes when the administration changes. And of course everything on the policy level can be changed, which basically creates problems when every project and emphasis changes basically after 4 or 8 years at least. Yet the stuff the services do doesn't change. Intel is intel, even if many Presidents have hated it and would prefer only intel that supports his ideas. Now even if he isn't President yet, he's showing a lot of distrust against the intelligence services. That distrust will go away with just replacing the director? I'm not so sure.Smitty-48 wrote:When Donald Trump is sworn in as Commander-in-Chief, those institutions will be on the Right side again, until he is, they all work for Barry Soetoro, and you think the GOP in Congress is going to take on James Patton Mattis and Co, for being soft on the Russians? With that Rex Tillerson hearings coming, I think hopefully some Mattis and Kelly will have no troubles of actually landing to those positions.
