If we suck it up and actually act like adults, we will be done with this by August at the latest
What exactly does that mean to you (I'll keep it serious and leave any other interpretations of him wanting us to suck it up to others)?

Does that mean going back to everything as normal? What kind of precautions and measures should be taken between now and August?

It really is as simple as that.

From two weeks ago..

Not every state on there is has it below 1.0 because of social isolation measures, but the glaringly obvious example would be New York.

Interesting note in the article:
Systrom adds this: “It’s clear that all non-lockdown states cluster on the right-hand side. While we cannot be sure the true Rt value is that high, this graph should give any policymaker in a non-lockdown state pause.” (The non-lockdown states are the red bars in the chart above.)
I think Florida is going to be a good test of the hypothesis in the coming weeks..

The blogger had a good point about us not really have a good idea which isolation measures are most effective and which are more theater than anything else. I'd argue filling in skate parks and arresting people watching a sunset are not terribly effective at anything except giving ammunition to morons who want to pretend like the virus is a hoax. We shall see..
A said a trusted source.

Mother Jones is a liberal/socalist circle jerk.

Also, the data is wrong, but what else do I expect from a fearmongering site.

That is not how this works. First of all. It isn't about only a small percentage of the population possibly dying. People of all ages are dying and the survivors are often completely disabled for life. Second of all, how many times do people have to tell you that we need sufficient community testing to reduce r0 below 1.0? When we have the community testing in place and we have enough PPE out there for everybody, then we can probably go a long way towards reopening things back up. Without the community testing, you are just going to realize the worst case fatalities and crash the economy anyway like fucking retards.

You’re never going to get R0 < 0 without heard immunity - sorry man - you’re nutz.

It's herd immunity. As in groups of animals.
It's an rO < 1 not < 0.
Apart from that, your post is shockingly ignorant.

What does the Wisest Man In the World say?

Here is the original data analysis:

http://systrom.com/blog/the-metric-we-n ... -covid-19/

It amuses me that a guy, who's highest educational achievement was the special ed class of a government secondary school, decided the "data is wrong".

"Fuck science and shit. It's just a flu, bro"

Just because I didn't use it, doesn't mean I didn't research it... I didn't use it because it is an extreme case, but if we are to reduce it to a level that is more akin to what we are to see around the rest of the US, we can make educated predictions.
Did you read back what you wrote? You didn't use it because it is an extreme case, yet you then use it to show how the rest of the US is just like that "extreme case".

You are either a joke or a troll when it comes to understanding statistics and being able to apply logic.

DoD is disqualifying candidates for enlistment if they recovered from covid.

Candidates who had covid probably will need a waiver and to get one they need medical proof their organs were not permanently damaged.

Here’s the difference - you are free to quarantine yourself - no one is forcing you to stop.

But how long you going to keep it up? Is there some point when it’s safe to stop quarantining?

Do we all have to quarantine forever?
How 'bout you stop asking stupid questions and spend that time to go back and read my posts where I said we need to get things going. Calling someone out for saying I deserve to die because I have diabetes is not saying everyone needs to quarantine forever for me. More simple-minded my side/your side bullshit.

A bit of a sidebar question with this ongoing situation but what is with the MSM fanatical reporting on the Asian "Killer" Hornet all of a sudden? This thing was discovered/reported in November of '19, why the sudden panic filled near daily reporting of this? I was just watching my local news here and they had a UF doc on talking about it. She even said she wasn't sure why this was a thing now since it was discovered months ago but there was a very low risk of it coming here anytime soon.

It just feels like jingly keys to keep us in a panic since 'Rona Rage seems to be dying down or distracted from something else. The ynn story maybe?
Panic sells and panicked ppl are dumb retards. Simple as. Tbh, I could probably take care of this stupid murder wasp situation single handedly but noooooooo. Nobody wants to give me a flamethrower and license to kill.

It means all people to go back to work, wear masks voluntarily. If you are high risk like you are during flu season stay home.

It really is as simple as that.
The only thing that simple is you.

People spread this for days before showing symptoms. Any idiot like yourself could have it, voluntarily choose not to wear a mask (not to mention gloves) and pass it around to others. You may never get seriously ill, but some of those you come in contact with could die. You seem ok with that. What if it's someone you work with? Someone in your family? Still ok with it?

There needs to be more than just "wear a mask of you want to" and "stay home forever if you have diabetes".

I have never stayed home during flu season. You know why, because the flu is nowhere near as likely to kill me as COVID is.

At this point I think the only way through this is for things to open up and for other areas to get as bad as New York. It's the only way people like you *may* take it seriously.
