You should read the book with the companion book to explain the deeper things going on. It is one of the deepest novels published in the latter part of the 20th century. Movie is okay but not deep.
I read it sometime in the mid 90s. or more accurately partially read it. It never grabbed me. Loved the flick.

That was 19 years ago, bolshie. What now?
Sounds like he's saying it's too late already. So run for the hills, or if your the Obama's run for beachfront.
Bolshie?
Only in America.
It may be too late for some places, there's still something we can do for others though.

That sounds bad.

The science is settled
Church of Sweden names Greta successor to Jesus Christ
In conjunction with the Global Climate Strike, church bells ring and we gather for prayer for the future of the earth,” the church proclaimed. “We pray that we believe that man is responsible for nurturing and managing Creation so that children are given the opportunity for a future. We pray that we know that climate change affects the most vulnerable — poor, children and women. We pray that we believe in man’s ability to change and change.

Maybe there's a more likely answer
"Global governance" is the game. Transfer power from the democratically elected governments of the world to anonymous technocrats in ivory towers. The elected people who sell out most of their nations will get the fanciest offices. Those who oppose are Populist Nationalists == Racists == Nazis == Evil. Reeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Doesn't surprise me at all. From what I've heard the climate models doesn't even include clouds because they are too hard to predict.
There is a real arrogance of technological man involved with this whole thing. Imagining you are so advanced and important that you affect everything around you. Not being able to grasp that your impact on this world may be insignificant and fleeting.
I don’t think it would be hard for you to find examples of the wholesale destruction of our planet created by mankind. As for the weather, you may be right. Who knows.
