It's impact on jobs has been shown to be minimal, and in any case, it's the wrong direction. We need to figure out how to get off of oil. Let the rest of the world remain dependent on it.
The only jobs they are talking about are installing the pipe add ons. I just went out of my way to demonstrate just making the pipe involves thousands of hands. Refining it another hundred thousand. Stop being a fuck tard over the pipe, we know you don't like it but guess what? You sure as fuck won't like foreign steel in your ground either.

You are talking about a one-off project. It's not a sustainable industry. All of those people will be out of work, and we will be stuck with a big fucking pipeline shipping millions of barrels of oil across our nation with no compensation for using our resources, and probably very little compensation for when the thing inevitably leaks and creates another disaster like Deep Water Horizon.

Fuck that. That's not looking out for the American people. You want this because it might give you a job for six months. Get real.

The way this should work is Canada pays us to move their oil across our territory. Otherwise, they should route their fucking pipeline to Vancouver.

This is a huge failure for Trump. The guy ran on the idea that he makes great deals, and this one is a fucking turd if I ever saw one. Canada's port in Vancouver can't handle the larger oil tankers. That's why they want to get it to our refineries and ports. This oil is destined for China.

We have the means and access they need. We have all the advantages. And yet Trump makes a deal that is basically a giveaway to Canada. What the fuck? Seriously. What the fuck is this?

We are taking on all the risks, and handing over use of our own resources for free, so Canada can export oil to fucking China. Fuck this.

The only advantage I can see from this pipeline is that, if we go to war with China, we can shut down at least one of their supplies of oil and make the Canadians eat a fucking surplus of oil at the same time.

A one off project that ships tar sand from Canada to us to refine yes. The uptick in manufacturing and construction isn't even that big a deal, I'm talking about making our tar sands, not just Canada's more competitive.

Let me explain further, right now we aren't fracking. That means no drilling, no pipe manufacturing, no fittings, no machine shops etc and less refining. Less refining means less money for expanding operations and means massive lay offs across the board.

All of this is quite normal because the oil industry operates on a boom and bust cycle. Always has in fact. Now the issue is that Saudi has flooded the market with much more cheaper to refine oil. If we can even make our tar sands as well as Canada's more competitive via pipeline shipping then that means we have longer periods of boom and less bust when the oil market goes back up again. I have no idea why you're hung up about shipping Canada's oil on top of ours, we will be doing it anyway, but if you want to charge them more for it whatever. That's your perogative. Mine involves putting our steel in the ground and not India's shitty poo in loo steel.

Show me Trump's deal. Monte posted a link to a previous deal and that's all.

As far as I know Trump is the guy who popularized the idea of forcing them to build the pipeline with US steel when he signed the Executive Order regarding it. Whether he changes his mind or not is another matter.

If this goes through and if the all our browsing data gets sold and ends up in family courts or whatever, Trump is pretty much done in four years. So is the GOP for that matter.

Playing with fire..

Still giving Trump a full term StA? Care to make a wager? I'm Nuke's bottle of port up already so I've got nothing to lose.....
