Just went on vacation for 10 days, spent a few days in Redding, fly fishin on the upper Sac, before it all burnt down. Went to Idaho for a week to fish and shoot. Lordy that place is beautiful. Get me out of this joint.

Oh, no doubt. I miss Idaho like a motherfucker. Lots of my old squadron mates have returned after their wives blew up the marriages.

If you want to survive nuclear war, look up a little town called Atlanta, Idaho on a map. For real, that place is Carlus' dream community.


Very easily defended. Nothing nearby. The only way in is on easily locked down ranger roads.

They had their own hydro dam in the 90s. Not sure if it still works now. If the power goes out, you still have hot baths because the area is surrounded by hot springs.

There is no way I would be happy there without a woman, though, because God knows there won't be any regular single women there unless a lot has changed since the 90s.

But, yeah, that's basically where I have always wanted to retire.

The bad news for womenfolk is that it is 40 miles away from the nearest paved road. Getting to Boise would be like a four hour drive through the national forest ranger roads. Winter time is Shining rules in terms of getting out.

Good news is when the balloon goes up, residents of Atlanta, Idaho might find out a few weeks later, but not much will change for them.

Here is another one. In the mountain range on the other side of the Magic Valley there is an old ghost town named Silver City.



Honestly, that area is the most defensible spot I had seen in Idaho. You can still buy land up there and build a home, but there isn't any community services like Atlanta has. It's a bit closer to the air force base, but westward of likely fallout.

We had lots of good times around there, but it's creepy as fuck after dark.
