Creating the strawman of people dying in the steets, that's only argument the feelz crowd around here seems to have. If you don't support the way ObamaCare covers pre-existing conditions, then apparently you want people to die in the streets according to these folks. Fucking Clowns.

Wasn't it during the Bush/Clinton era that they said grandma was going to be thrown out on the street and eating dog/cat food?StCapps wrote:Creating the strawman of people dying in the steets, that's only argument the feelz crowd around here seems to have. Strongly agree. Health insurance is not like other insurance. Health care is also not like most other services. That makes this problem unique and complicated.Kath wrote: This is a very tough issue, and, at the risk of repeating myself, the answer isn't black & white.
I'm a little confused here. If you don't trust the government, and you say we don't need insurance, what is your solution? How does health care get paid for?Kath wrote:Also, to everyone, please quit conflating health insurance with health care. Americans don't need health insurance; they need health care. Insurers need us to need insurance.
That said, I don't trust the government to fix this. Everything they touch turns to poop. There's got to be some sort of solution. I don't trust the free market on this - an epi pen that went from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars overnight is proof that the free market will not help control health care costs.
Epi-pen price gouging isn't a free market problem, it's a lack of free market problem. In a truly free market, other companies would be making the same pens for cheaper.
The biggest problem of health care is the cost. None of the government solutions from either side of the aisle address the cost of health care. They are all too busy fighting over who has to pay for it. Address the costs, which the government will never do. Have they ever been concerned about the cost of anything?

Anytime a Health Care Plan isn't socialist enough for some people, they play the people dying in the streets card. Lazy argumentation if ever there was such an example. The Conservative wrote:Wasn't it during the Bush/Clinton era that they said grandma was going to be thrown out on the street and eating dog/cat food?StCapps wrote:Creating the strawman of people dying in the steets, that's only argument the feelz crowd around here seems to have. I do not know. I'm asking questions, not pointing fingers or trying to play gotcha. We already had subsidized health care via emergency rooms. That wasn't working. If we go back to that, there's no reason to believe it will magically start working.PartyOf5 wrote: I'm a little confused here. So, what do we do?
Not one time, ever, did I lend a supportive word for the ACA.StCapps wrote:Creating the strawman of people dying in the steets, that's only argument the feelz crowd around here seems to have. If people can't use the emergency room and can't afford a doctor, how will they get healthy from whatever illness is ailing them? Many people actually do die from pneumonia for lack of care (and sometimes even with care,) so pretending people won't die is really, really disingenuous.

Medicare for the uninsured.
We need to just do it already.

Are there any qualifications for the term "uninsured" in that position?Speaker to Animals wrote:Medicare for the uninsured.
