Carlus, your point about environmental fraud sounds plausible, I’m sure there’s some truth in that, but that new American article is obviously agenda driven, low info, not backed by science and doesn’t connect environmentalism with wildfires through anything but insinuations and rhetoric. I disagree that wildfire is a simple to understand issue, but there will always be folks peddling simple answers like “global warming” or “not enough logging.” I think you are better than that.

Wildfires happen because wood burns.

No, they don't, you said so yourself. Wildfires happen because of arsonists.

Not really, but sometimes we make problems more complex than they need to be. Of Fuel, Oxygen and Heat, the only one we can readily control is the Fuel in the equation. Reduce hazardous fuels, control fire. Just that simple.

We have million upon millions of acres of wilderness in this country in which we allow nature to take it's own course. Failing to manage fuel levels in the urban interface is at a minimum poor management and more likely incompetence.

That went a lot better than I thought it would. :)

Agree.

Could you be more specific as to what you mean by managing fuel levels? That leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
