Perhaps that's what makes them hate America.
Culture has become a kind of economy and Hollywood pushes out all other cultures. This is why I said the other cultures of North America need their own version of the fucking thing. People are beginning to hate Hollywood here in America. Overseas, I can see that just becoming hate for America, since Hollywood and the television networks project the idea that Yankee culture is shared by all of us when it really is not.
Think about it from their perspective. They see their culture vanishing. Then this Hollywood garbage is all that is played. It's difficult for their own culture to compete within the economic environment created by the American trade empire. I'd be pissed too. Hell, I am pissed. I am pissed that, whenever Hollywood tries to show us southern culture for example, it's some insulting stereotype or a piece of garbage like Jeff Foxworthy.

Is it really difficult? Movies cost a lot but not that much that they could not handle it. I think the only reason it's popular is because Europe lacks optimism.Speaker to Animals wrote:Hwen Hoshino wrote:Why are they consuming so much American pop culture in that case?Martin Hash wrote:R we going to do this again? I don't know. I have been thinking a lot about it. I do think it would be difficult to compete in films as the way the films are marketed and distributed to theaters is all locked down by Hollywood. Indie films already often try to do the same thing and it's very difficult for them to break out.
But I do think it's not possible to do all of this online. Most people stream films and television through their broadband today. Most people watch stuff on youtube and whatnot. It's at least possible to start small networks of content providers that serve distinct cultural areas. It's not going to be as huge as Hollywood, though, but it's at least something.

How do you explain that Hollywood only has 10% of the Indian market?Speaker to Animals wrote:Hwen Hoshino wrote:Is it really difficult? Movies cost a lot but not that much that they could not handle it. I think the only reason it's popular is because Europe lacks optimism.Speaker to Animals wrote:

Indians don't fuck around with cultural colonization, dude. They just gained independence in 1948. Then they had to deal with all the Muslims. They are pretty fucking serious about ethno-nationalism these days.

You guys really don't get it.
The Europeans who "hate America" are totally similar to those leftists that you have that hate all the same things of America. Hence these Europeans you assume to "hate Americans" just love Noam Chomskys and the Michael Moores of America. Because they think just as your fellow liberal Americans. Hence it's no wonder that the "America haters" so openly embraced Obama (after a Bush Presidency). But seems you cannot fathom that actually the fault lines go quite similar fashion in Europe as they do there. Better to think simply that everybody hates you. Perhaps it's convenient for you to think that people hate you.
Hence you seem to surprised when Europeans aren't such "America haters" and cheer to Trump (like in Poland). Well, not all Europeans are leftists.
The only guys who would really "hate" you on a broad basis are the countries you have bombed or have intervened in. In Latin America you are the "gringos", something that isn't a positive definition. There you can see people who aren't left wing, but do have strong antipathy for the US. Or people who are patriotic view negatively the US.
But Europeans? No way. The vast majority don't think so much about you in order to hate you. Hate is a strong feeling.

The south loves foxworthy, and the cable guy. They're the reason that those two got so big, not some liberal conspiracy. This actually fits the fact pattern I'm familiar with, poll-wise & personal experience. Young people on the Left Coast are predominately Collectivists, and they "hate" status quo America. When I travel, it's always socialists who "hate" America. America is the only Liberty Nation, collectivists hate it, and can't wait to see it fail.ssu wrote:The Europeans who "hate America" are totally similar to those leftists that you have that hate all the same things of America.
