It's winter. Weather was nice yesterday, though. Sure it will be shit again by the weekend.

And here I was thinking the entire USA was in the northern hemisphere.

Re: Woodworking thread
A relative recently gave these old file cabinets to me. They were made by Shaw-Walker back in the '40s of wood, presumably because metal was needed for the war. The fact that they are made almost entirely of wood makes them kind of interesting and unique. I'm told they at one time were used by the FBI, which is how they came into the family since another one of my relatives once worked for the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover.
Internally, they are in very good shape. The brown and green scheme is not very attractive, though, so I'm thinking of repainting them to a putty color to make the more palatable to a modern eye, and freshening up the hardware. I'm not sure whether I will completely strip them first, or just sand them down. The sides are made of pressboard, so there's no point in stripping them and then finishing them in a natural tone. They were cheaply made and intended to be painted. Maybe I'll do the drawer fronts in a complimentary color like a medium gray to make them a little nicer. After that, I don't know what I'll do with them since I have no need for two more file cabinets.

Re: Woodworking thread
Maybe restore them to original, and auction them off as Hoover's lost file cabinets, for charity, of course.
Just avoid this guy,
