To buttress the claim that Trump (unwittingly or not) aided Russian disinformation efforts, Watts cited several instances. Among them: Trump’s citation of an apparently false Sputnik story at an October 2016 campaign appearance
Citation needed. Wapo isn't giving one and I have no idea what they are on about with this specific angle.
Heh, I remember the Ted Cruz thing. There might be more to that story actually. I can't remember what I heard someone dig up on a podcast.... It's still funny though.

I guess I am still shocked that people like Penner to this day have no idea that the Obama administration in fact spied on the Trump campaign. What universe do these people come from? Is their news source that incredibly bad that they don't know this???
Did Trump and his associates discuss what headlines RT should run? You are suggesting there was a coordinated campaign of misinformation without providing anything but speculation.
Are you seriously suggesting no president has ever talked well of a Russian leader before? President I have looked into his eyes followed by President 1980s wants their fopo back and Secretary Reset??
“I've got a phone that allows me to convene Americans from every walk of life, nonprofits, businesses, the private sector, universities to try to bring more and more Americans together around what I think is a unifying theme..." - Obama

No?
I truly don't remember any Presidential candidate praising a foreign leader as Trump has praised Putin and defended him. They may say a compliment once or twice, but not as in this bromance.
Not pissing all over Putin doesn't constitute a romance, except to media grasping at straws for something to hurt Trump with. It's not like the only choices are trash the Russians non-stop like you are John McCain or you are in league with the Ruskies. Don't be ridiculous, a Trump-Putin bromance is fake news and always has been. Saying a few nice things about a person isn't glowing praise, learn to tell the difference or get a better memory.

That's the real question. And that is totally open.
That's why the interest on the meetings with Russians. And that's why some idiot Roger Stone bragging about Podesta getting it before the Podesta leaks were out is damning. Just to give one example.
If there's been that "collusion", I think that the basic thing simply has been just a lack of judgement from Trump when dealing with a foreign country. After all, dirty tricks, fake allegations, data mining on voters and using bots, all the things used is something that has been seen in US elections.
If some Manafort would just say that he knows a guy who knows a guy, who could help. That looks fairly OK. Especially when campaigns usually go with the slogan "We can use all the help we can get". Then the whole deal could look splendid: Russia helps here, you help in something Russia, you get Russia to fight Isis, have better relations with Russia. Everybody wins, right?
It all seems rather OK, if one is ignorant about the relations between US and Russia, if one doesn't understand the possible risks involved. The risk is this kind of scandal that we are seeing now, even the small possibility of impeachment, if everybody has blundered totally in the Trump team. Likely outcome in my view: somebody gets a slap in the wrist, but no jail time for anyone. Just like happened with uh... the Hillary e-mail thing.
The interesting question is just how Trump did pick Manafort, Flynn, Page... even Tillerson (who has in my view kept his past life and the present job separate).

As I said, they can say some compliments (especially when meeting them).
But not like this:
Of course, Trump isn't your ordinary POTUS, which should be obvious to everybody by now.

Everyone is just jealous of our new BFF. Also, Putin invited Trump to meet with him in Finland ssu. See if you can get his autograph for me.
You follow the news well, nuke.
Yep, the papers here have been drooling about the possibility here.
Who signed the FISA warrants? Good luck getting a straight story on this. I believe it's possible Obama issued the FISA warrants but I also believe there is no way in hell this will ever be publicly proven, much less pushed. Go ahead, show me the wapo article that states their was no FISA warrant and I'll show you the article that states there was.
Otoh, judging democrat aligned political actors, it's not impossible that no top down chain of command is even necessary for this sort of thing.
And that's why some idiot Roger Stone bragging about Podesta getting it before the Podesta leaks were out is damning. Just to give one example.
This is easily explained without your Russian bogeymen. I can give you an example I'm anonymously acquainted with. Some Russians were fucking around and hacking people in Germany and they ended up getting their hands on a bunch of people's files. Some Muslim rape porn turned up and they started shilling it on a Russian onion site. Somebody told them to release it because it was politically damaging to the status quo but they wouldn't they wanted 3k BTC. They only showed part of it on a stream that couldn't be downloaded.
Anyway, we know Podesta got phished. In fact his password was released on reddit and made its way to 4chan where people started using it on all of his devices. Somebody got into his iPad but he bricked it right away. So supposing, a normal hacker, could have even been Russian, but keep in mind phishing routines are really entry level hacking anyone can do, supposing they got their hands on his emails well what are they going to do? They will shop it around. I have no doubt it's quite possible someone shopped them to Stone, who could even have been the one to release them to Wikileaks.
So you see, our new BFF Putin could quit plausibly have nothing to do with this grade school drama.
