In January, Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) asked Sessions for answers to written questions. “Several of the President-elect’s nominees or senior advisers have Russian ties. Have you been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election, either before or after election day?” Leahy wrote.
Sessions responded with one word: “No.”

Yeah, Sessions is a KGB agent and it will be Red Dawn any day now.

I didn't say he was a KGB agent. He was asked if he had contact, he said "No." and this isn't true.

He was meeting with the ambassador in his capacity as a US senator, no differently than I am sure senator Franken has met with foreign ambassadors. This is total fake news.
And the question was in the context of the last fake news bullshit the MSM was peddling:
Franken: CNN just published a story alleging that the intelligence community provided documents to the president-elect last week, that included information that “Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump.” These documents also allegedly say “there was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government.” Again, I’m telling you this as it’s coming out, so you know. But if it’s true, it’s obviously extremely serious, and if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?
Sessions: Senator Franken, I’m not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians, and I’m unable to comment on it.
Franken: Very well.

That doesn't change what he said.

Everybody is tired of fake news and misinformation. Yet some of us seem to believe that 100% of it is directed against their 'side'.
Uh.. pretty much ALL of the fake news these days is negative ops against Trump. There's been plenty of it in the past, especially on Fox, in support of Bush and his little gang of ne'er-do-wells.
...and this didn't happen under Obama? That's how your glorious leader got his start, remember? Birthers anyone? Hello?
You are the guy buying this latest fake news story hook, line and sinker, too. It's not like you have any business telling anybody anything about what is fake and what is not. Pull your head out of your ass.
And you do? If so, then I bow to your superior qualifications.

OMFG
He met with an ambassador in his capacity as a senator. All of them do this. It's their fucking job. Does Washington Compost have evidence he was meeting with the Russian ambassador to discuss Trump's campaign or relay secret information between the two parties, or is it just more bullshit innuendo and fake fake fake bullshit?

You obviously are rube numero uno in this cantina if you believe this fake news story.
ALL senators meet with ambassadors. Even Franken meets with them, and I wouldn't be surprised if he too met with a Russian ambassador for some reason or another.
If you are on the Armed Services Committee, you have to meet with the guy. They deal with little things like START inspections, for example. This is the dumbest fucking fake news story yet.

One has to wonder why he lied about it then. But at the very least, we can move past
that he lied, and onto
why he lied.

He didn't lie!
Holy shit.
It's his job to meet with the Russian ambassador as a member of the Armed Services Committee. Every senator on that committee meets with them for various reasons relating to the work they do on that committee.
