Hah, the mess has disappeared off the bottom of the page, some good info shared here as well. This is definitely the place to be.

Sorry. I was thinking of Julius Streicher.C-Mag wrote:I've never heard this, I will see him over the holidays and I will ask him about it if the chance arises.TheReal_ND wrote:Just curious but according to Goering he was being tortured by the MP's. Heard anything about that?
I know he fucking hated Goering, he thought he was the most arrogant man he had ever met. Said that Goering was offended at having to stand trial, felt they did nothing wrong, etc. He was a real as to most Americans.

Might ask him what he heard anyway.

C-Mag wrote:Yeah, it was the American Officer, a Lieutenant from Texas I think. He said both were hunters and had long conversations about hunting and basically became friends. Goering had a ton of personal belongings locked up at the prison. My uncle said the LT, who had access to this stuff was given many items by Goering, watch, guns, stuff like that. The LT would retrieve items and take them to the Field Marshall. The poison was in one of them. He guessed the pocket watch.Penner wrote:Did he say who it was?C-Mag wrote:
Some, not enough. I didn't know he was at the Nuremburg Trials until about 15 years ago. I asked him about Goering poisoning himself. He said, "I was just Damn glad I wasn't on duty that day ! "
He did tell me he's positive who gave Goering the poison.
I wonder if the LT knew if there was poison in his items or if Goering was using him to get what he wanted?

I did ask him that. My uncle seemed to think he had an idea of what was in there. Apparantly all the guards were very uncomfortable with how close Goering and the LT werePenner wrote:

From what he told me, the Army puckered up tighter than hell. They were completely embarrassed about it and didn't even seriously investigate it, they just wanted the incident behind them. But at the moment it was happening, he said all hell broke loose. The Army brass were PISSED.Penner wrote:Did the Army think about that too?C-Mag wrote:I did ask him that. So nothing happened to the Lt then? Is it known whether he regretted his actions or did he want to help because of the friendship they had built?

A google search suggests at least a few different people claiming to have slipped him the cyanide.

Nothing about anyone being prosecuted for it then?TheReal_ND wrote:A google search suggests at least a few different people claiming to have slipped him the cyanide.
