I believe I found a rather elegant solution to a problem that was a bit more nuanced than your snark suggests. I have indeed, stopped moderating entirely.

I don't see how Bjorn is being snarky, DrY went to bat for Kath, he fought for her, against me, who Kath asserts he "worships", and yet she threw him under the bus, as part of her latest meltdown, to the point of hijacking his account and posting under his avatar.

I can see being so butt hurt against me that she would jack my account, par for the course, anything goes for the Evil Smitty, but to jack DrY's account? I would say "asshole" is actually being generous there.

But whatever, poor little Kath, she's ever the victim, everybody is "stabbing Kath in the back", Kath dindu nuffin, as always.

I've had some time to process this, now that the negativity is gone.

So, I learned that Martin enjoys watching Smitty bash me around. But, he must also enjoy watching me bash Smitty around, otherwise, why would he refuse to revoke my mod status, knowing full well I was going to mod the fuck out of that shit, eh, peeps?

Because, by not allowing me to block Smitty, but ensuring I had the ability to take away the smallest bits of Smitty's freedom, by making him say stuff he didn't say, and not allowing him to edit it, only leads Smitty to want to bash me more. .. so that I can mod more Smitty posts....

and the cycle is probably very enjoyable for Mr. Hash. This is why Martin won't take away my mod powers - as long as I can't block Smitty's posts but do have the ability to edit them, chaos and can ensue.

I've removed my ability to mod posts and gained the ability to block people in the process. It's a huge win for me; I'm no longer part of Martin's sadistic entertainment jerk-off fest and I no longer have to see Smitty playing the innocent "i dindu nuffin just splaynin hockey 2duhpeeps," cards.
