Also, Catcher in the Rye inspired a dude to shoot Ronald Reagan to impress Jane Fonda, so putting it on the meaningless Banned Book List was obviously the correct choice.
I now submit the way to combat modern day assassinations is to ban Jane Fonda.

We should probably put Ethan Frome and My Ántonia on the banned list. Those books almost caused me to assassinate somebody when they made me read them over my summer vacation.

Stick Emma on there too, that book made me want to commit suicide from sheer boredom.Speaker to Animals wrote:We should probably put Ethan Frome and My Ántonia on the banned list. Those books almost caused me to assassinate somebody when they made me read them over my summer vacation.
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court and Catch-22 were fucking baller, though.

Alas Babylon was a game-changer. I am not sure why we went from stuff like Alas Babylon one summer to Ethan Frome in the next. Probably some feminist took over the reading assignments.
Really, I blame feminism for the guy who tried to murder those republicans. He probably identified as a male feminist too.

Haha, picked up a copy of Ethan Frome yesterday for $5 at BAM with my daughter as part of filling out her summer list. She asked me how bad it was going to be. I told her to just get through it as best she could and she could wash it down the same evening with Animal Farm or some Heinlein. :goteam:Speaker to Animals wrote:We should probably put Ethan Frome and My Ántonia on the banned list. In some ways, it's a valuable lesson to young men about female nature. The feminist teachers will be oblivious to that aspect of the novel, so a parent would need to explain it. In hindsight, it's kind of funny that feminists would choose this novel as reading material. Some MGTOW guy should do a positive review on it.

If Catcher and the Rye (One of the worst books in American Literature in my opinion) inspired someone to shoot Ronald Reagan, there was more wrong with the person than just a loose screw. The guy needed a frontal lobotomy...KerningChameleon wrote:Also, Catcher in the Rye inspired a dude to shoot Ronald Reagan to impress Jane Fonda, so putting it on the meaningless Banned Book List was obviously the correct choice.

Idk what murder porn means. I'm not arguing the banning of any plays or books. The guy who shot Reagan was really into Jodi Foster in Taxi Driver, and I think the guy who killed Lennon was a big fan of The Catcher in the Rye. They were clearly beavershit crazy before they watched and read this stuff, and decided to act out their fucked up fantasies. The stuff obviously made an impact on them, though I would not argue that it caused their deplorable actions. As far as banning plays, books, movies, whatever, that is for pussies.
Edit: Someone already mentioned Catcher in the Rye sorry for the redundancy on my part.

Sixth Extinction is solid - I'd recommend it. Not necessarily about climate change (which I think you assumed), but more about the obvious wholesale disruption that we're wreaking on nature. The other two look like SJW silliness.California wrote:Feminism is the root cause for most of today's issuesSpeaker to Animals wrote:Alas Babylon was a game-changer.
