Weather channel just did a little breakdown on high rise condos. If you're 20-30 floors up, winds will be 20 mph faster. You'll also be trapped, when power is out and the area is flooded, with no help available. Didn't think of it that way.Speaker to Animals wrote:Seems reckless to me. I'd just pack up some clothes, cards, and maybe my old dungeons and dragons books and head to the shelter on the other side of I-95, personally.GrumpyCatFace wrote:140 is not enough. Should be a wild ride.Speaker to Animals wrote:
They said they think they will be safe because they are on the third floor and the windows are rated for 140 mph.
Seems crazy to me.
If it's a pretty new building, then they've got a decent chance tho.
Against the Giants and Temple of Elemental Evil should about cover the hurricane.

Between the Experian hack, looming debt bubble, and the hurricane, D&D might be our only source of amusement for the next few years.

I miss it, honestly.
I tried playing a local game with some of the millennials, but they generally suck at it. They need more video-game style gameplay.

Yeah, when I think about it, it really was a video game with a really slow computer. But the fun part was when it went off-script.Speaker to Animals wrote:GrumpyCatFace wrote:Between the Experian hack, looming debt bubble, and the hurricane, D&D might be our only source of amusement for the next few years.

A friend of mine and I discussed how do you decide when to bug out.
Basically we decided you need to avoid the main flow of exodus... too many variables in that mess. Either get out early, if not possible wait out the initial chaos and go in the first lull.

When it's played well, it's not anything like a video game. It's an intellectual game that requires a lot of imagination and collective world-building.
This is especially true when your group operates in their won shared world they create themselves. Then players design their own castles, wizard towers, etc. They can build kingdoms with politics and culture.
The entire Dragonlance world is based on a series of books that were literally just adapted from a freeform D&D game.

I'd say early or not at all. Waiting for a lull in a huge hurricane is pointless because they will shut down the interstates and highways anyway.
