Somebody listen to the 2:00 minute mark in this video and tell me what you hear.
This whole thing is starting to stink.

I hear two shooters. That's not the sound of ricochets.

Sounded more like a chopper, but I also hear the deeper sound during the last few series of shots. Could just be the angle of the barrel to the microphone. Otherwise, they’d have to be perfectly in sync.Speaker to Animals wrote:Somebody listen to the 2:00 minute mark in this video and tell me what you hear.

Good on that chick for trying to get people to stay in cover, I can't fathom the guy saying "it's not a real gun" while live rounds are actually snapping over his head, but I don't hear anything that definitively indicates two shooters, there a moment where you can hear the report with no rounds snapping in, then the rounds snap in and then go away again, but that sounds like the shooter sweeping the weapon left and right as he fires, you only hear the rounds snapping by the microphone, but not the ones more distant.
The low frequency report of the rifle firing is echoing all over, but you only hear the supersonic crack of the bullets flying close over the mic, went he points it in another direction, the supersonic crack goes away but you can still hear the report as sweeps the fire back and forth.
I don't hear many ricochets, there's a couple "thup-thups" of rounds splashing close by, but most of the high pitched cracking sounds is just rounds going over their heads, that's what rounds sound like at supersonic speed, those cracks are little sonic booms. Doesn't sound like any of those rounds are impacting near the person holding the phone, rounds splashing right around them in those bleachers would be loud and clear bangs, shooting those seats up would make a big racket, sounds like most those rounds are going high over their heads into the field beyond.
They were low in the bleachers, he didn't have the angle on them, they were in defilade, so the chick was right, best to stay where they were.

Yeah I hear one shooter constantly strafing changing mags or more likely switching out weapons cause he is burning out the gas tube. I don't hear any simultaneous fire, one shooter in periodic bursts.Smitty-48 wrote:Good on that chick for trying to get people to stay in cover, I can't fathom the guy saying "it's not a real gun" while live rounds are actually snapping over his head, but I don't hear anything that definitively indicates two shooters, there a moment where you can hear the report with no rounds snapping in, then the rounds snap in and then go away again, but that sounds like the shooter sweeping the weapon left and right as he fires, you only hear the rounds snapping by the microphone, but not the ones more distant. Yeah, exactly, sounds like one guy, plausibly switching guns, the report sounds a little deep for 5.56 there, but I factor in the urban environment, the echoing around the buildings makes rifle fire sound louder and deeper, as the sound bounces off the high features, isn't so loud in an open field, shooting in the city always makes it sound like it's heavier than it is.
All the civvies doing exactly the wrong things, either lying in the open like deer in the headlights, or trying to run under fire, the chick telling everybody to get the fuck down was the only one who had her shit together, those people out in that field with no cover should have made a dash to those bleachers and then got down with her behind those concrete steps, and then just stayed there. Promote that chick to Corporal.
If under contact in that situation, get out of the open, look for defile with hardened structure which can stop bullets, make a dash for that, try to move in between salvos in bounds if you have to, once you get to defilade, get the fuck down and stay the fuck down. If you're gonna run, don't dawdle like those people, go flat out, when the fire sweeps in, hit the deck and crawl as hard as you can, when the fire sweeps away, up and go as hard as you can, flat out sprint, wash rinse repeat, until you get to cover. Once you're in cover, don't get up again, if you want to move around in cover, maybe look for some route out of there through the bleachers or whatever, just crawl in defilade, don't run from cover once you're in cover.
In the infantry, we do a lot of crawiing, if under fire, embrace the leopard crawl, don't run slow, crawl fast. Pump those knees and elbows, hard as you can, don't get up and run, unless you're actually caught in the open, and even then, tactical bounds, quick dash down crawl, up dash down crawl, bob and weave, don't give him an easy target.
If you're the one guy who gets up makes a dash for it and you run the whole way, that can draw his fire, that will attract attention, so go hard and agressive, never stop moving towards cover, but up and down, dashing and crawling in bounds, until you get to cover, then you can assess. Try to find a way out through the defilade, don't go back out into the open.
Unless you wanna be a hero and go back out there to bring people who are like deer in the headlights into the defile with you, but that's up to you, you can make that call in the moment, because I would find it hard not to go out there into the field and start kicking people in the ass to get them into cover too, just reflexively. No sense yelling at them, they can't hear you, they're in shock, you pretty much have to grab them by the scruff and haul them at that point.
Like that chick is telling people to get down, but they're not listening to her, in that situation, you have to be agressive, get up in their grill, throw their asses into cover "GET THE FUCK DOWN AND STAY DOWN!" like dat. She's like "hey, stay here, if you run, you're gonna die", but see the thousand yard stares coming back at her? When they're like that, you have to take charge, physically grab them and place them where you want them, just to get their attention.
Gotta love that chick tho, she doesn't panic, she keeps her wits about her, she correctly asseses the tactical situation, the only thing she was lacking was an agressive take charge attitude, if she was a cop, or a soldier, she wouldn't have just told them to do it, she would have made them do it, but otherwise, she has all the parts.
