The show is pro drug legalization, and the whole point of the story is individuals against institutions. The main characters are against quotas and stats, and low level drug arrests. The police department is portrayed very badly, as are the politicians, school superintendents, and the media. This is a show you would love dude. Capps can back me up on this. Seriously GCF, watch the show and thank us later. This isn't NYPD blue or something stupid. This is as close to a perfect show as I can think of.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Yeah, I'm really hurting, by not gurgling on wiretap propaganda. If only the police could see everything, we'd all be safe. I'll put it on the winter list. I'm not optimistic, but you seem earnest.heydaralon wrote:The show is pro drug legalization, and the whole point of the story is individuals against institutions. I would bet you that after Grumpy watches The Wire he'll be one of those fags who thinks it's better than every TV show ever made, and by such a margin that to suggest another show is better would be blasphemy.
He makes the stupidest TV watching decisions, it's next level with Grumps over here, this is why you can't trust his opinion of The Leftovers, he simply doesn't know what he's talking about and completely misjudges shows to a degree that is hard to fathom.

I hate most tv. The two shows I consider the best are the wire and the sopranos. In my humble opinion, the sopranos is a distant second. I'm telling you dude. Watch this show. You have got it all wrong. Capps seems to be the only person who appreciates it. I think one of the reasons I hate tv so much is because I saw the wire first and it has led me to be disappointed by everything else that has followed.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I'll put it on the winter list. But he'd rather not watch The Wire out of ignorance as to what the show is and now also just to spite us because he thinks so highly of his opinion on TV, that we can't possibly know what we are talking about, because we disagree with him, so now he definitely won't watch it. Don't fall off that horse.

Well if you go through life expecting every show you watch to be as good as The Wire, then that will happen. That simply is not a proper standard to hold TV shows to, making a show as great as The Wire, that's not an everyday thing, so don't distort your expectations so needlessly.heydaralon wrote:lool that's pretty much me. Anyway Capps, I am starting to feel like a creepy Jehovah's witness with getting GCF on board with this. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. I saw that Mindhunter show with my girlfriend over the weekend. I was fairly disappointed, but she seemed to like it. Its like a better shot version of criminal minds. I read about all those serial killers growing up. The guy who plays Edmund Kemper was pretty spot on, but I don't think that show is all that good. It had its moments. Did you see Ozark? My girlfriend liked that one too, but I thought it felt kind of like a breaking bad ripoff. Didn't cover much new ground. Netflix has been disappointing lately idk.

Yeah Netflix is very hit or miss when it comes to original shows, Bojack Horseman is dope though, highly recommend, doesn't truly hit it's stride until the second season, but well worth the investment.heydaralon wrote:Anyway Capps, I am starting to feel like a creepy Jehovah's witness with getting GCF on board with this. Didn't see Ozark, never heard anything from those in the know that made me really want to watch it. Haven't seen Mindhunter either.

We really like Ozark, actually. It's similar to Breaking Bad, in that the protaganist has a family??heydaralon wrote:Anyway Capps, I am starting to feel like a creepy Jehovah's witness with getting GCF on board with this. Great plot twists, and a lot of unpredictable behavior. The main dude breaks all kinds of conventions each time he gets into a bind, sort of like a horror-movie character choosing not to panic and lock themselves in a room, and instead facing the killer with a shotgun.
