(CNN) — Blame President Trump for his tepid moral response. Call the neo-Nazis and white nationalists thugs. Fill your Facebook and Twitter accounts with moral outrage.
But the tragedy that took place in Charlottesville this month could not have occurred without the tacit acceptance of millions of ordinary, law-abiding Americans who helped create such a racially explosive climate, some activists, historians and victims of extremism say.

'You have to have millions of people who are willing to be bystanders, who push aside evidence of racism, Islamophobia or sexism. You can't have one without the other,'' Naison says.
"We are a country with a few million passionate white supremacists -- and tens of millions of white supremacists by default," he says.

If you want to know why those white racists now feel so emboldened, it may help to look at all the ordinary people around you, your neighbors, your family members, your leaders.

Actually, 89.7 WGBH. But yeah, there is another 88.5 or "DERP" as we call it here, but since I live so close to Lowell, it is hijacked by an illegal radio station that plays Hispanic music 24/7.Zlaxer wrote:The Conservative wrote:Neither am I, I listen to NPR....C-Mag wrote:
Damn dude, I know that now.
Before I saw all their black bloc shit against Trump I didn't know who the hell they were, I'm not on the Filthy Collectivist mailing list.
Ahh - 88.5 - New England Public Radio ("NEPR") the People's Voice
I listen to 89.7 (or the BBC) when I'm not at work because I don't need to get pissed off... they use terms and terminology that they personally know is incorrect, but are "key words" that the left use to make things "feel good" when in reality it is just proof that their dumbing down is working, because no one questions when they are talking about things like "immigrants" if they mean illegals or legal ones... and they normally don't tell you till 2/3 through the story.
So for me, I spend my time writing, instead of listening to the brainwash drivel... especially since they spoon feed you their side of the story and make all other sides seem evil.

Yeah, people used their brains and thought for themselves.katarn wrote:There was the one thread Kath had on the DCF that got three pages in before she deleted everything and left a message as the first post of something like "This went wrong. Not that that makes CNN worth having, though. Pretending to be neutral during the election failed miserably. And they Piers frigging Morgan as host for a debate show. Clueless, totally clueless.
As for antifa.... I remember a time years back when no one the DCF knew what antifa even was. The way things are getting reported, it sounds like a word they just discovered, and like a label anyone can get slapped on. As if "antifa" simply means anyone who is anti-"fascist", which can mean simply conservative.

Disagree. That it sucks, is incompetent, biased and sensationalist and is more about validating beliefs than challenging them, isn't an argument for not having it. It's an argument for having, or creating, something better as an alternative.PartyOf5 wrote:Neither is a media that only criticizes one party, while aiding the other.BjornP wrote:A media that does not criticize the government, is not a media worth having.

Several things, a media that rightfully criticizes the government is one worth having. One that criticizes for ratings should be taken off the air.BjornP wrote:A media that does not criticize the government, is not a media worth having.

Antifa was quickly realized for what they were by some people on the DFC, it just took longer for the liberally indocterated to accept what they were seeing and accept it for what it was.
It wasn't difficult to figure out what they were about back then. I personally called them a problem from day one. Others like you called them a joke. So please, don't lump everyone into your mistaken view of things to make yourself feel better.

Yeah, can't go wrong with giving government the mandate to ban media that paint government unflatteringly. It's your job as a citizen and an adult to determine if you want to believe in shit-quality news. Government should not ban voices that are critical, no matter how batshit crazy and irrational and "disruptive" the criticism is. I believe that's what the first of your amendments was about...?The Conservative wrote:Several things, a media that rightfully criticizes the government is one worth having. I ever only called antifa irrelevant in regards to how they're like in MY country. They've been active here for decades. Both antifa here are different (here they're black bloc anarchists, in the US they're SJW progressives), and the mainstream media coverage of antifa here is nowhere near as positive in the mainstream media of them in US media. They're irrelevant here because they have no power and no one in power that gives a shit about them.

Write down the name of anyone who defends CNN. When this conflict is over, they don't get to vote.pineapplemike wrote:lost dey gotdam minds'White supremacists by default': How ordinary people made Charlottesville possible

F#ck CNN. I'm sick of this trend to try and make people feel guilty about everything they don't actively fight every day. I have a full time job and a family that takes up most of my waking hours. Don't call me a "white supremacist by default" because I'm taking care of my family instead of holding signs and chanting in a crowd for hours. I do no know any neo-Nazis, and I'm not going to interrogate every one of my neighbors to find out if any of them are secretly one. I don't encounter them in my life. If I did, I would not be their drinking buddy or help them out with their racist agendas.pineapplemike wrote:lost dey gotdam minds'White supremacists by default': How ordinary people made Charlottesville possible

Maybe the people writing this garbage should spend their time ferreting out the Muslim extremists. According to their logic, they are terrorists by default because they are bystanders to that. One more, F#ck CNN.

I wonder why CNN is so keen to put manlets on the screen. I think Don Lemon is the only normal-height man in their main lineup.
