I've been called those things (and much more) around here, but am generally regarded as a conservative type in person. It just depends on what kind of crowd I'm in, which tells me that I've got a good balance.

Our recent spat of confederate memorial vandals are destroying history because they are picking and choosing what is offensive to write their own narrative about history, then telling me what that acceptable narrative shall be. They are showing complete intolerance to anyone elses views.

These folks pretend this is about slavery and racism. But it's not, I made the points I did in the OP to point this out. They will never go after FDR, Woodrow Wilson or Lincoln. The Confederacy was wrong, it's entire foundation was wrong, but when I see memorial to the confederacy or union of the era, I'm reminded that well over a Million people died to solve a problem that plagued our country since the founding.

Fact is, most of these Confederate Monuments were erected with the resurgence of racism in America that was backed up by Woodrow Wilson during his term in office. Bjorn made a thoughtful and lengthy post earlier. He has a statue near him of a person not to be idolized. But it's still there with Bjorn and generations of others getting the choice to determine for themselves how they feel about that person and their role in history.

This is a wave of intolerance, vandalism and frankly idiocy of masses.
