I'm starting to wonder if he does it deliberately whenever a subject comes up which is full of uncomfortable truths. He did the same thing when I was trying to talk to Nuke about the Holocaust. These difficult subjects fall outside of his conviction of the superiority of Western culture. It also explains why you can't bring up Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs and Steel. Any serious conversation about "Anglo-Saxon supremacy" has to consider these contradictions but his conviction is so strong he can't cope and his tactic is to try and shut down the conversation with insults and "virtue shaming" (tactics he regularly accuses liberals and SJWs of using) It's sad and rather pathetic really.......

I don't see it as inferior. That is exactly the kind of strawman DSL employs.
I just think you have to be honest and admit there are many examples of where Western culture has fallen well below the high standards held by the majority of it's best thinkers. Slavery and the Holocaust, while in no way limited to Western culture, are a couple of examples of where it has failed to stand up to it's high ideals. If you just counter this opinion by pointing to other cultures and accuse them of being worse you are, in a way, trying to down play the truth of these crimes against humanity.

I cannot downplay jack, it was what it was in a global historical context. The Truth is they are horrible, and other cultures being worse in many ways is also true both today and in a historical context.

True, but I would argue that its likely Western culture will continue to dominate, at least as long as the current global economic system and post-industrialized world remains, since Western thought tends to be advantageous there.

I think the civilization race is over and people just want to live well. We are at the destination, the ideas are fine we just have to improve the human resource and be consistent. Other cultures are worse the same way certain corporate cultures are better than others. We don't assume that people working in Company B with an inferior work culture are subhuman. Of course it was not always this way but people live in the here and now.
