I encourage you to at least visit it, so you can see what “no major employers” looks like. You’ll understand why Kurt went out the way he did. Nothing but run down single-wides all having yard sales for blocks.

Hard to get to the coast without going through it, at least if you're headed the usual way. I have some friends out in Ocean Shores.
The place I moved away from was a lot worse than ol' Aberdeen.
Living around Seattle is just way too expensive, what's the point? Even if you go Renton, or Kent, or Everett. All expensive. Even Tacoma is expensive, and there's a lot of crime there.

The benefits are ridiculous.
I bet I have better health insurance than anyone here.
If I stay here for five years and get promoted to full time, that's 25/hr.
With ESOP as well, someone just retired a millionaire. (1.5 is what she told me before she left.)
I pay $30 a month for 20/80 insurance with max payout for me is like 1k. Somone had a family member get sick, spent time in a hospital and bill came out to be 104k. They paid $940. Just went and got a brand new pair of glasses, everything together including eye exam was $10. Doctor visits? $20. Got prescriptions and dental cards as well.
I thought about going other places or trying to advance my skills, but with benefits this good? I dunno man. Still in school anyways, getting more skills and they're encouraging it, willing to work with me and I get 40hr a week, paid sick leave (which is Washington mandated, 1hr every 40 hours worked), got a week of paid vacation in a month on my 1yr anniversary.
What are you, 35?
What kind of health insurance do you think you need?
Run four days per week, do strength exercises three to four days per week, and eat whole foods. There ain't no better health insurance than that.
Staying in an untenable situation because of your "health insurance" really smacks of a rationalization to avoid facing some cognitive dissonance of some kind.
And it's a nice place to work while I go to school.
You can live in Boone, NC for about $600-$800 per month in rent (apartment all to yourself). Go to Appalachia State right there. Go hiking in the mountains that are right there whenever you feel like it.
You'd like it. My ancestral homeland was overrun by hippies almost worse than Asheville.

Dude, I live so close to Olympic National Park that I see the mountains as I drive to work every day. I have state parks all around me. You really don't understand just how beautiful this state is. Ask DB, Viktor, or Nmoore. This whole place is like a fuckin post card.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Mon May 21, 2018 9:12 pmjediuser598 wrote: ↑Mon May 21, 2018 8:52 pmI don't live in Seattle. Dude, look at your cost of living.
I have lived on both sides of the continental divide. Bigger is not necessarily more beautiful. Appalachia is more beautiful by a country mile. That country mile is filled with trees too..
Fact is, you can live in one of the most beautiful places in America for at least half the cost of living you face in that shit hole of a city, and your pay probably won't be all that different either when you consider the lower taxes.
Don't get me wrong, I have often thought about returning to to Idaho along with so many other dudes from my old squadron after their divorces, but eh.. I like trees. I like living in the place that my ancestors settled. I also like living in my own condo for half your monthly rent.
Also, Boone literally *is* in those mountains. You would be living on a fucking mountain.

To be clear Appalachia has shit on the olympics, cascades or Rockies.
As far as nature and geography goes.

University town. Actually in the mountains, not just in sight of them, trees, and he can rent his own apartment for $600-$800 per month.
Washington sucks.

Negative. Trees spaced pretty far apart, and only in the mountains. Go to where Nick lives and trees are like puddles on Arrakis.
It's not just trees in general either. It's little things like hiking for miles into the national forests, up a mountain, only to find yourself in the middle of a rhododendron forest.
Or climbing up a mountain to watch the clouds roll by beneath you.
I used to think like you two. You miss the little things and you lost your perspective.

Honestly man, unless you're here you won't get it. I don't have the artistic prowess to render it to you.
I could post pictures for days though.
Mount Baring in WA from Barclay Lake.
Mt. St. Helens
Our trees with appropriate fog.
Olympic National Park
Olympic National Park

I'm sorry man, but yours just don't compare.

You don't actually live in those places. You see them a few times per year.
I live in this. Big difference. I posted things that are a few miles from my home.
