OK, I'm brainstorming and blegging. I'm getting some streaming movies together for my daughter for Christmas. She's a STEM college freshman in a very challenging program at a challenging college, and has a taste for 80s/90s comedy, horror, and cult favorites. I'm looking to drill deep for some good recommendations from the peanut gallery.

Other than the original Ghostbusters, all of the Back to the Future movies, Halloween, and A Fish Called Wanda, let me have it. I'm listing those as examples of what I'm looking for. She may already have seen what you have in mind, but I'm looking for all kinds of recommendations here.

So far I've got Big Trouble in Little China, They Live, and Slingblade for this year's stocking.

Die Hard is good, but those family christmas movies are terrible imo. I heard that the way they cracked Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (the 9/11 mastermind) in Guantanamo, is by showing him Tim Allen christmas films. To be honest, I think that even for a fucking gutter turd like that, forcing someone to watch those films is a pretty clear cut violation of the Geneva Convention.

If she likes horror, comedy and cult, she's gotta see Vincent Price in The Abominable Dr Phibes, the best cheesy movie ever made. Wronged mad genius creatively kills people according the the plagues of Egypt. Has a hot assistant he built from scratch.

Don't forget Margin Call. Do you mean Network, the 70's Paddy Chayefsky recently debuted as as Broadway play, or something else? I love Paddy Chayefsky, The Americanization of Emily and The Hospital (George C Scott & a smokin Diana Rigg) are among my favorite movies. The former derailed Julie Andrews goody-goody career after Mary Poppins and Sound of Music, since she played a woman who will fool around.
