If Matt Carey ends up completely broke, my bro would be absolutely delighted, that I can tell you. He is playing in Sweden in the SHL now apparently, so he can't have that much cash on him, but that's not good enough schadenfreude for my brother.

It's better not to have much money in your twenties, you have no idea what to do with it, very dangerous to be handed a bunch of cash at that age, once in you're in your forties, that's when you want the payout, like that $1.4 million that your mate is making there, after taxes, that ain't that much, he's needs to invest that wisely, no private jets to the Caribbean for bye week, unless you're Patty Marleau and you've already been paid many times over, and you have a wife to supervise you.

I think Austin Matthews is pretty grounded, but as much money as he is going to make, quite sure his parents are saying; take it easy, son, you ain't been paid yet, just come home and chill out here with the family, no need for a private jet, just fly first class.
