Hey I'm not giving them blanket approval. But there's nowhere else to find literary jokes, real culture, and actual interviews with people. It's not sound byte MTV style news, and that's a valuable thing.

Then pay for it on your own. The reason you can't find it anywhere else is because why get into competition with someone that gets government funding. Also you can find that in plenty of places. Buy a decent cable package or invest in Netflix or Hulu and you can get the same shit.

GCF I think you're wrong about these outlets. They can carry on juuuust fine. If Trump actually manages to cut the funding I guarantee that rich and poor progressives alike will donate. They'd have donations bigger than Bernie Sanders and everybody can signal their virtue and continue listening/watching Ira Glass and the Ira Glass wannabes. You'd probably donate yourself and they might get even more money than the gov was giving them.

I also hope that (somehow) orchestral performances and plays don't suddenly charge Broadway prices to see. I hope that culture doesn't take a fucking nosedive in our already barren land, because we can't be bothered to pay ONE-PERCENT of the cost of a pointless border wall towards it.

Or just elect a president who is willing to cut funding to a propaganda outlet. They don't serve the interests of the American people but, rather, the interests of the democratic party. I suggest democrats figure out how to fund their shit without taking money from other people who don't want to fund it.

You don't want to fund something like EWTN or some bastardized version of Fox News on the public dime. Reciprocate a bit of respect and put some faith in your own ideas.
