It's hard to kill dozens of people in a few minutes with a whisky, but it's way easier for an individual to kill a lot of people when losing control of himself, an this is where alcohol comes in.
And this is not really the primary casualties of alcohol either, just like mass shootings aren't the primary cause of deaths due to guns. It's all those small scale deaths that contribute to the statistics, which we simply don't care about.
But drinking is fun, so it's not going away. I'm just pointing out how even if most of us in the west aren't gun owners, most of us are guilty of supporting some sort of "death industry" anyway.
