Well, one might hope, on a debate forum such as this, to receive an informed opinion to the contrary.StCapps wrote:I attacked both. You don't have any argument other than to argue from ignorance, the ol' "I don't see how it isn't obsolete, so it must be obsolete". Bad faith for bad faith. This isn't the only time you've pushed this bullshit argument about the navy being obsolete because you can't see why it isn't, and you get your ass kicked every time you bring it up.

A surface navy is damned close to obsolescence.
The time will eventually arrive when an Air Force can launch from CONUS and strike anywhere. Submarines already rule the sea, and they provide the means to shuffle nuclear strikes around so nobody can preempt them.

You really forget your history then... Germany, the wolf-pack... how they ruled the sea before the US and allies used a combination of air and sea tactics to squash them?Speaker to Animals wrote:A surface navy is damned close to obsolescence.

People are closed minded when it comes to mixed operations... Obama thought we could destroy ISIS without boots on the ground...
We need to stop thinking so linear... we need to use all forms of military to destroy an enemy, not limit ourselves to just one or two tactics...

A German u-boat was a surface vessel that could, for a time, go underwater.
A modern nuclear submarine can stay very deep for a very long time. It's also considerably faster than surface ships.
Not really comparible.

If you are talking modern subs, yes... but don't forget, if we are talking countries like NK, etc... they still are using Diesel and Electric subs, unless they got some dealings with China and got their hands on a nuclear one, but even I don't think China is that stupid.Speaker to Animals wrote:A German u-boat was a surface vessel that could, for a time, go underwater.

Just think of all the battles won throughout history with horse cavalry. We surely can't just leave that weapon out of our arsenal. The Conservative wrote:You really forget your history then... You laugh, but why do cowboys use horses to heard cattle instead of jeeps?GrumpyCatFace wrote:Just think of all the battles won throughout history with horse cavalry. There is a reason for everything... and you need to remember, the US still uses Horse Calvary...
