Australian. SASR. Based at Nui Dat with 1st Australian Task Force, Vung Tau province, from 1966 to 1971
Rocking the SLR. That's what my Action Man doll had.
That's what we used when I first joined, then we switched to the AR15 (C7) at the end of the 80's
Yeah, I think it's what my father was issued with when he did his NS in Malaysia '58 - '60. Not something you see in war films very often.
Used right up to the Falklands war.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I wonder why there has never been a big-budget British or Hollywood film made about the Falklands conflict.

I'd say the reason the British media has never made a Big Falklands War Movie is that they hate Margaret Thatcher

If she had lost the war and it was a catastrophe, they would have made a thousand movies about it by now

Only half of them hated Thatcher, the other half loved her.

The half who hate her are the ones who make the movies, the half who loved her were the Fleet Street press.

Even still, they could have made a film depicting her as a heartless opportunist. Last fling of the Empire and all that.
Maybe it's just that they don't want to stir up animosity between us and the Argies?
