Fascism can be either Right or Left, Fascism is the tightly binding together of what the Nazis called the Volk, the Fasces, an axe made of bundled sticks, unbreakable, in their tightly woven bonds, this is not about the French Revolution, the origin of this, is Imperial Rome, which predates the Left-Right paradigm, by one thousand eight hundred and sixteen years.

Communism is not the antithesis of Fascism per se, the Nazis were a brand of Fascism, which approached Communism on the spectrum, they simply revolted against the post nationalist multi-ethnicity therein.

Nazism, was like Communism, but only for the Germans, when the Communists declared the end of Nationality and Ethnicity, the Nazis went to war against them to defend themselves from that.

The Communists demanded loyalty to the state and obedience to the leader, in an even more totalitarian way than the Nazis did, the issue is simply; which state? Which leader? For the Communists, the state was a one world government, no nationality, no ethnicity, and their cult of the personality leaders were first Lenin, then Stalin, then Mao.

Bear in mind though, Communism was actually aspirational, there was no Communism until the World Socialist Revolution had been realized, in the meantime, the Communists were Socialists, in Marxist-Leninist thoery, socialism is the transition stage, until such time as Communism has been achieved, by World Socialist Revolution.

Nazism was socialism that was nationalistic, however; not all Fascism is socialist, so for example, there are American Fascists, and American Fascists are not in anyway socialist.
