I can't find the article now, but I saw a particularly deranged article today urging people to move their investments and look for dual passport options to get out of the US. This Gianforte situation is demonstrating to the REEEE-ing snowflake that we are just now lost

It's gotten more hilarious. People dug up tweets from that reporter where he encouraged violence against a conservative journalist. They want the special right to hit with impunity and then act shocked when they get hit.

Pretty simple, really. Write a law that news broadcasts will be held by selected networks, commercial-free, and subsidized by the government. Conditional that there be no influence From said government.clubgop wrote:Any supporter of NPR saying they support fixing the Press.GrumpyCatFace wrote:And so you're going to blame that on an entire generation of "bad people", rather than the complete failure of our institutions? The Conservative wrote:

You really might be some kind of idiot savant. Because that is absolutely hilarious. Seriously, that would make for a really funny book or movie.

Actually, that does work in some countries particularly in Europe. Anyways it's not a straight up funding, but instead a partial substitute for the disappearing advertising revenue. The reason American news journalism has gotten so bad (besides the MBAs taking over) is the lack of revenue as it is almost impossible to charge enough to cover costs. 20 years ago newspaper would charge 50 cents but make something like over a dollar in ad revenue. I'm guessing it would take over 3 dollars per paper now without ads.TheReal_ND wrote:
The Europeans have stopped that, but I don't know how well. Maybe if Bjorn, or Montegriff could comment?
Anyways the reason Public Broadcasting has gotten so snooty, and elitist, is because they don't receive government funding or if they do it's next to nothing. Only people with actual money will donate and their interests count.
